He was drafted with the 250th pick (second to last) by the Carolina Panthers in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He played college football at Bentley University (Division II).

The panthers developed him for a couple of years until 2010 when he started 12 games for them. He played well but when Geoff Hangartner the Panthers former starting Center became available again after a two year stint with the Bills the Panthers decided to move Hangartner to guard and move Bernadeau back to a reserve role.

Hangartner had been a quality Center on the Panthers line for 4 years. The Bills brought him over to solidify their developing line, but he opted to return to Carolina when the Bills two interior linemen drafted 1st and 2nd in the 2009 draft developed faster than expected.

So Bernadeau is a young, very powerful quick footed interior lineman with some NFL game experience for Calahan to work with.

I'm liking this pick-up very much :)

He is a veteran OL with some starting experience to compete with all of the 2nd year interior lineman and who didn't break the bank. I'm sure someone watched the film of him when he started, liked what they saw, showed Garrett and Calahan, and they liked it as well. You simply cannot fill all your needs with $50 million/5 years guys. If this guy becomes even slightly better than average, the move is a homerun.

It's obvious the Jones' have worked very hard on researching these aquisitions and the options the salary cap situation would present.

I don't think the fans can be anything but pleased with their off season efforts thus far.

I believe if he just plays better than one of the guards from last year, it would be homerun. That would then at least solidify 3 of the 5 positions on the line.

Any vids of games he played in?

I downloaded the Giants vs Panthers from 2010. He looked like a player, although he had two bad plays that weren't necessarily all on him. Maybe I'll cut it down to just offensive snaps and upload to youtube.
