Hey I was just playing my franchise in Madden and after the first three games I noticed that I hadn't a real deep thret. When it came to 3rd and longs I couldn't make anything happen because my WR's where not fast enough to beat the CB's so I went out and traded for Chad Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald and have yet to punt. The next thing that cought my eye was my CB's and Roy are getting beat up so the next year after winning the Superbowl (Nothing but long passes) I went out and grabbed Gay and Bly and Bdawk. With the addition of these 5 players I went from an 85 overall to a 98... I am still under cap and I am going to make a move for a game breaker type HB this offseason. I currently have 5 Superbowl wins since I restuctrued my team and cruise through the season fairly easy. Now I know this is just a game but it got me thinking. If we could pick up Fitz instead of resigning Crayton and pick up Chad to replace Glenn our O would be unstopable. Then we could grab Bly as a #2 corner and Gay as a back up incase we have anymore injuries. Lance Briggs would be a nice addition as well. any other needs we have could be filled with the draft but I think that most of our needs can be met through FA and players like Briggs and Bly may come cheap if they know there is a great chance at a ring. We could also try to get Chad to redo his contract. Just some thoughts. Again I know Madden is a game so don't rip me for that it just got me thinking.

the fitz idea was brought up a couple of weeks ago, still sounds like a nice pick up to me.

madden is easy call some zone if they keep passing deep haha & highlight the receiver thats killing you.

When I was like 12, I played NHL '99 and had a team that went undefeatedin the the regular season..simulating like half the games.

I decided to send a letter to them telling them the players and line combonations they should use. Sure enough, they did.

Picking up Fitz would be the only possiblity here.

Could you imagine Johnson and T.O. on the same team? Could be worse then having Randy Moss and T.O. together.

:madden:

Actually, I was playing today and traded my first round pick, Crayton and Julius Jones for Randy Moss, a 4th and 5th round pick. (signed some scrub backup RB) I've been averaging about 350 yards a game and 3 TD's per game (got 6 TD's against the Patriots since I was intent on running up the score that game).

It's a little scary to have Randy and T.O. line up and then bring in Glenn in the slot. Only downside is that they're all old, so I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

It's fun to pretend.

Oh, and I lost still lost to the Patriots in the superbowl cause I simmed it to get to the off season quicker, I'm one of those people that enjoys the off season more than actually playing the games.

I would love to move Stanback up in the depth charts, but he is absolutely horrid in the game.

I hope I don't live long enough to see any coach who was a Madden freak at a young age use it as tool to run a team.Hopefully if it ever happens it will be Madden 99 the sequel .:D

Actualy they are good friends, I think having the two of them would have a huge up side I mean they can't duble team 3 wide outs and a Tight End. Some one will always be open, everyone will get a share of the balls yards and TD's. If we are winning all will be good and I can't see us losing much with a team like that.

Yea, I know what you are talking about. I play on all-madden level and sim most of the regular season games (I love the offseason the most).

I turn the philosophy to 80% pass and I have TO, Holt, Steve Smith, and Roy Williams at WR.

Romo averages over 400 yards every game........FREAKING INSANE!!!!!:D

I used to do that. Just sim most of the games and maybe play the Super Bowl if I made it that far and do all the offseason stuff. Then the games became a bit more complicated and I kind of stopped doing it. When I had to start worrying about the mood of the players and morale and all that jazz, it became a bit tedious.

Yea, I have the biggest problem trying to keep quality back-ups. Once my back-ups get to about 85 rating, they start getting pissed if they dont start.

I have same problems with 1st rounders, if they are not starting by year 3 they get totally pissed.

NOTE: I had the RB carries split 50/50 between JuJo and Barber starting out, then I started giving Barber 80% of the carries and JuJo got freaking pissed at me. I traded him for a 4th rounder.:D

What version do you have?

I've got it for 360 and have yet to find a situation where morale meant anything. Granted, the game is buggy as hell, you can't play more than 6 seasons of the franchise without the thing locking up and forcing you to start over, so maybe it's something that takes time.

The only thing I've ever seen is when a guy "out plays" his contract and believes he should be earning more, he will hold out and you have to renegotiate, also if you cut a guy that was unhappy at the time, he won't resign with you.

What's stupid is that when a guy sits out, he'll sit out the whole season regardless of what you do. You can't even play hard ball with them, which is just not realistic. Look how many players promise to never play a game unless they get a new contract or traded and then end up folding before training camp is even over.
