Madden?

I'm enjoying it more on PS2 than on PS3. The defensive AI is better. It looks exactly the same, but they fixed the gameplay which is what I am concerned about always. The DBs make alot more plays on the ball.

is the tackling the same?

Heya Yeagermeister,

Please, hook a forum up with some Madden PC impressions!! I've been reading xbox 360 and PS3 reviews all day, but not a word on the PC side.

I'm crossing my fingers that it'll be good and they don' skimp out...For instance, in Madden 06 (and I think in 07 as well), you could not play Franchise Mode with a custom-made team for the PC, but you could with the PS2 and xbox. What a jip!

I've been playing Madden 07 again for the last couple days because of the NFL preseason goodness and in anticipation for Madden 08!

I have only played one game so far and it looks nice. The playbooks have changed. A wr/te/rb can go in motion by the design of the play just make sure you have plenty of time on the play clock.

I don't know about the custom team. I have never tried it to be honest.

I just finished my first game as well, and my initial thought is I'm unimpressed.

Pros

-The gameplay is definitely faster and marginally better.
-Seems to give you more control of the minutiae of the game. Initially I liked the new spotlight features and special controls depending on what defender you control.
-Liked the presentation, at least initially.

Cons

-I don't know, the game still seems stiff to me. I haven't liked this new game engine in any of the 3 next gen versions of the game (I am playing on 360 btw).
-The gang tackling doesn't seem as smooth to me as it is in NCAA. I was going in for a hit on Reggie Wayne with Hamlin... Henry latched on to him, and Wayne started dragging Henry. When I got Hamlin in to assist on the tackle, he knocked Henry backwards on his butt, and Wayne dragged Hamlin another five yards.
-I played the preseason game againt the Colts, so Sorgi played the second half.... and promptly threw 4 picks in one half. There were 8 turnovers in the game, 6 by them and 2 by me on All-Pro level. A little much, guess I'll have to tweak that in the settings.

A good madden game has to have ways to cheat in co-op play, such as the guaranteed onside kick, and the unstoppable end around(best play ever). And of course the move that makes RBs nearly untacklable...the hop.

I read that there were a high number of turnovers in the game but my gosh. First half of the first game I played (5 min quarters) and I had 3 fumbles and the computer had 1. Two possessions in a row JJ fumbles the ball. Luckily I was able to hold the computer to 2 field goals and then boom Steinbach fumbles the KO return. I finally scored right before the half when Glenn returned an interception for a TD.

I just played one half before work. I am really disappointed from the PC version. Not a big change from the 07 version.

You can't freaking stop the fumbling. Jason Witten never fumbles - if I go to him in a tight spot, he will almost always catch it and fumble it. It's getting a bit annoying.

The Hall of Fame videos are a pretty nice touch...Irvin is included but no Staubach?

Wasn't too stoked withthe game at first, but I've since gotten used to the new gameplay...and it's pretty kick ***.

Turnovers are pissing me off though.

Turnovers are ridiculous. I really need to get the camera view and playboks down, namely pick one and stay with it. I'll drop back ad think Witten's gonna break right into open field, then he breaks left and i throw a pick. The fumbles re out of control, and for no reason most of the time.

So far i've only played a few actual games, all of the minigames over and over, and am in the middle of superstar mode(/w Spencer). And iff superstar mode is any indication, I gotta agree with the rest of you guys, turnovers are *****' nuts. Newman averages 3 picks a game alone, and that's not counting fumble recoveries and other ints. Still this has been the funnest madden game i've played in awhile.
