Magee claimed by Cleveland

His spot went to Edgar. BTB writers thought Magee played well. We'll see.

I'm positively inclined towards all Sun Devils, but I have to admit, I wasn't very impressed with McGee in camp. I had hopes for him, coming in, too.

So did the organization that had him rated higher than Holloman. Glad to see we didn't make that pick.

No kidding. Holloman's been a real find. To our credit, though, the scouts had him rated higher, but the organization correctly guessed his physical limitations were more likely to land him in CFA. We played that one right. But, yeah, it'd suck to have not gotten Holloman and to have drafted McGee in his place.

Magee isn't ready to play in the NFL right now. Any team that took him will have to wait about 8-12 games at least in my opinion before he is not a huge liability. Cleveland may have the space on the roster to keep him for a while. Although, it would not surprise me to see Cleveland cut him soon.

McGee never impressed me, he always seemed like a Will version of Orie Lemon. There was something there and he will be an OK backup/ST guy in time but its not hard to find guys like that.

I don't know how you could watch Holloman and Magee in college and not think Holloman has way more upside.

He wasn't drafted, so I think it's safe to say he isn't ready for the NFL....but I could say the same thing about Escobar as our second round selection, he's clearly not ready for the NFL either...

It must be hard to find them, the Cowboys just traded for a backup/special teams kinda guy. I agreed with you, they are common, but some other posters showed me the error of my thinking.

I thought Magee had some potential, and obviously so did the Cowboys. But he wasn't ready to make the team this year, and so we lost him.

We've got two fairly young linebackers, and a promising young linebacker in Holloman, there wasn't much room for Magee to ever become a starter on this team.

He would have been at best some quality depth. And I assume we can continue to get some late linebacker help in future years, but for now we also have some veteran depth (until we have to pay that money to Carter).
