I went back and looked at every Cowboys game where Tony Romo has been the primary passer. This dates back to Week 7 of the 2006 season. If you look at these games, it's easy to see that we have a magic number at 7.0 yards per pass. In games where we get at least 7.0 yards per pass, we are 18-4, including 12-0 since the start of the 2007 season. In games where we do not get at least 7.0 yards per pass, we are 4-7, including 0-5 since the beginning of 2007.

It's pretty simple: we must get big plays in the passing game to win.

Disagree. Yes, it's nice getting big plays, but I think the bigger problem is our lack of a run game. It's one thing to have a team slow down your run game, but the skins completely dominated our "Great" OL today. And eventhough they didn't bring Romo down, the pressure on him was good and they did an excellent job of collapsing the pocket. A QB would rather a man come completely free then to have his interior OL pushed into him every pass play.

The running game only hurts to the extent that the lack of attempting to run makes it more difficult to get the big pass plays.
