Sat what you want but keeping Maher this year probably cost us 2 games if not 3 or 4. Sure he hit a few really long ones but having a kicker with whom you are confident in changes the way you call the game too. He was 20 of 30 attempts for the season.

Honestly, until this F.O. gets out of their comfort zone there will be more similar stories like this no matter who is the head coach, unless they get another Parcells-I want real control type of coach.

The dude was money at home, but sucked on the road last year. Still kept him and brought in no competition.

Then this year he blows at home (50%) but was decent on the road.

We did lose 3 games by 2 points.

But when you play gutless football and prefer to kick field goals like Garrett does, the last thing you can afford is a kicker that's a liability. Getting rid of Bailey was an abysmal decision.

More revisionist Bailey history - go find one poster calling the decision "abysmal" at the time.

Maher stunk and so did Chris Jones. We didn't have the worst starting field position in the NFL by accident. It matters.

Legends say he still feels good about his kicks to this day when he lays his head on his pillow each night.

I blame just getting 3 field goals and no Td's in THE most important game of the season..........how many Field Goals's did Maher miss in that one again?.....

Gee, does anyone recall Jerry telling the media after a bad Maher game that we weren't changing kickers?

This is one of the comments that led Aikman to snap and say that Jerry didn't let Garrett do his job.

But it got rid of Garrett and outside of a Superbowl victory that was probably the next biggest victory.
My question is who made the decision to keep Maher? And...shouldn’t the head coach be the one who makes those kind of decisions based on the fact that he gets the axe if the team fails?and I’m not a fan of garrett.
