The main part of the question is about getting a lead and allowing the pass rush tee off on the QB.
Then allowing to be a top 10 defense. Sounds good in theory as we all know that.

I don't care if they are a top 10 defense overall, just as long as they are playing like one playoff push time. But I think that is still asking for a lot.

The issue is, given the offense and it's slow starts, they need to start fast and score, to get a lead. As well the defense needs to make stops in the first half instead of giving up points.
If not, then this entire concept can not happen.

The other question about Odighizuwa being a pass rusher at DE using his wresting skills to fight off OL. As answered, that may suit him better at DT.

Judging a defense by "yards allowed" doesnt really work.

I think both responses sum it up well:

“top 10 feels awfully ambitious”

I’m not sure exactly who “Jonny” is, but based on his answer about Odighizuwa at ‘nose tackle’, I don’t have much respect for his credibility or opinion.

Hard to see us going from dumpster fire to top 10 defense, but if that were to happen Hello Super Bowl

Jonny is Jonny Auping a free lance writer whose published articles in The New Yorker, SUCCESS Magazine, Texas Monthly, RealGM and the Dallas Morning News.Buess he didn't have anything to write about this month and/or they couldn't find anybody to do the Mailbag questions.

Thanks for that background on him. I appreciate it. Based on that answer, maybe he should stick to his other interests.

After being near the bottom last year, it would be asking a lot for them to make it to the top 10. But I think they will make a huge jump to at least middle of the pack and that could be good enough.

That is about what I am expecting, middle range overall. But playing better than the middle by the end of the season.

When was the last time the Cowboys had a top ten defense according to advanced metrics?

From where we were last year to middle of the pack is great within itself, then anything above would just be icing on the cake.
