This could be a fun off seaon topic. Not much else to do.

St. Louis and San Diego are obviously. But SD does not want to help with a new stadium. But I think the fan support is there.
One said Orlando but does Florida need a 4th team.
I would say San Antonio. But does Jerry want to give up control of the fans there. If Dallas fans would actually do that.

One guy said New Mexico. But where. Maybe Albuquerque. How about the Roswell Aliens.
Also mentioned possible Toronto. Then he said London, no way, keep it here, but I can see Canada.
How about Montreal. Would Canadians go for the NFL over the CFL.
Oklahoma was also mentioned.

Anyway, what cities do you suggest. And would they do 1 or 2 teams.
For me, St. Louis, San Diego, then San Antonio.
How about Mobile, AL

Saint Louis definitely.

Maybe Portland, Oregon

If San Diego gets a team, it should be the Chargers moving back. They won’t build a stayjum so that’s doubtful. They ironically have the best MLB stadium by a longshot.

Don’t know otherwise. They’ve really got the map covered, and you’d probably need to go into Canada to expand, but they have their own league.

The NFL also currently has the perfect set up with eight four team divisions and schedule rotation. At some point the greed has to stop for the better of what they already have.

NY probably could handle a third team better than most of these options handle a first

Chicago team 2 would be good

San Antonio

SD and StL are obvious options

I’m gonna throw a curveball and say Honolulu. I think a pro league team would be well received by the community. 1m+ metropolitan area and zero competition

San Antonio is the obvious answer given its population and rapid growth. That could be expanded to include Austin for a "Central Texas" team. The combined population would be huge. Austin alone is twice the population of Tampa Bay for example. A third Texas team is inevitable.

Yes, I thought about Austin as well.

They could be called the San Austin LongSpurs

I think Uncle Phil would block this. Ducks are by far the brand in Oregon.

San Diego is a likely one, but perhaps they can demonstrate loss of jobs and tax base as an incentive for a new stadium. its happened before.
San Antonio, which can have access to Austin base, but Jerry would fight that tooth and nail
how about Sacramento?
Nashville - with the # of tourists, it can be very attractive, much like vegas
Oklahoma...but its so far away from everything and Jerry also looks into that southern part as a fan base.

Nashville can’t handle two teams and not sure Knoxville is a good place for a 2nd state team.

I would say the short list is Sacramento and San Antonio. SD and St Louis don’t deserve another shot IMO.

I'm an Austin resident who frequents San Antonio often. I'm not sure Austin would support an NFL team as well as people think, if anything an MLB team would be better. San Antonio may legitimately have more Cowboys fans than Dallas itself (us Mexicans love the Cowboys), so I don't know that either would really make much sense. Population wise, sure, but practically co-existing with the Cowboys in Texas would be financially difficult.

Yeah, I thought about Knoxville, but would that take away Bengals, Steelers fans.
Maybe Memphis.

For years the NFL has had its sights on growing outside of the US to become a world league--and explode their revenues with it. London would be their first choice, and since they really need to expand by twos I'd guess Berlin or Mexico City at the same time. By the way, I'd hate this passionately.

Don't really see them going back to St. Louis. They've lost two teams over the last few decades, and left a lot of bitterness toward the league when the Rams left. The city sued them and won for that. I think that the NFL holds grudges and wouldn't seriously consider them, especially since it's unlikely voters would approve a tax levy to gift them a billion dollar plus stadium.

San Diego for years refused to build the Chargers a new stadium so they left. Hard to see the voters changing their minds for an expansion team.

As mentioned, Jerry would fight denture and nail to stop expansion into San Antonio/Austin and probably Oklahoma City too.

While I hate it, expansion into other countries is most likely. Heck, there was even talk a few years ago about moving Jacksonville to London.

Cool thread.

I agree on St. Louis. They'd be first on the list.

I think San Antonio and Toronto would also be great choices, but I think the teams most local to those areas would strongly oppose expansion there, and for that reason, they're probably no-gos.

I bet Michigan could support a second team. I'm sure the Lions would oppose strongly, just as the Bills and Cowboys would be against Toronto and SA, respectively. But for some reason I see that as more of a possibility.

Salt Lake City? I don't know a lot about the area, but they support their NBA team strongly.

Years ago when the owner of the Vikings. Who I believe was from around San Antonio threatened to move them to San Antonio if they did not get a new stadium.
SA had the Alamodome where they could play for a few years. as said they would commit to a new stadium.

Jerry supported that at the time.
Now did he just say that, because he knew it would never happen. Or did he really support it.

TORONTO!!!

- Buffalo won't let it happen
- Roger won't let it happen because of TV Revenue

fanbase would be wild, but one can only dream

San Antonio

But Jerry will do anything in his power to stop it
I agree, San Antonio would be my pick. But they would have to get a new stadium. I saw the Saints and Lions play in the Alamodome and that's not up to NFL standards anymore.
