Jerry probably feels as if he already won.

If he reaches the SB and is the center of all media attention for two weeks over the team he built all by himself, he keeps Mike.

If they fall short again, his next fall guy is already in place.

Unless a 180 on strategy takes place and they use higher end FA, these last few turds of drafts are going to catch up to them very soon.

Arguably the best two players on the team, Lamb and Parsons, were/are on rookie deals and they couldn’t make it work then.

They had their shot and chose not to because they don’t understand windows under which to win and adding what’s necessary to get over the hump at the right time.

That’s pretty much it. They may sneak into the playoffs next season but I have little doubt Zimmer becomes the next HC and this team is in the toilet within two years.

Not because of Zimmer entirely, but they can’t compete with the draft only for players strategy. It just can’t work. No one drafts well enough and you’re competing with teams that are doing all they can to win immediately.

At that point, people may just be at the point of ignoring the team, and maybe 85 year old Jerry goes the Parcells route again out of desperation.

That’s probably our best hope. Great.
