Reading Hos' list of our 2009 opponents I was reminded of this completely useless exercise I undertake each year a month or so before the actual schedule is released.

Lot goes into a season's success, but I always felt how the schedule lays out can make a difference.

I try to take into account some of the rules and trends and formulate what I see as an ideal schedule.

As I said this is a complete waste of time. But what better place to do it.

Here's mine.

1 @Chiefs
2 Commanders (Sunday Night)
3 @Broncos
4 Falcons
5 @Giants (Sunday Night)
6 Panthers
7 @Eagles
8 BYE WEEK
9 @Wash
10 Eagles (Monday Night)
11 @Packers
12 Raiders
13 Chargers (Thanks)
14 @Saints
15 Giants (Sunday Night)
16 @Buccaneers
17 Seahawks

I know the NFL will most likely have the Cowboys open the new stadium week one, but I always liked opening on the road in a winable game.
I put us at home for 3 out of 4 primetime games. We'd never get 4 at home. But I do suspect we'll get three to show off the new stadium.
I always like to see the toughest decent weather road game after Thanksgiving, since we have 10 days to get ready for it.
Of course I softened up the Dec schedule as best I could for obvious reasons.

The only team I trust the Cowboys to beat on a regular basis is possibly the Raiders, I have a feeling if we had played the Lions once this year, they would have gone 1 - 15.

Just so we dont start on Thursday night. Opening Sunday would suck then. Even if we play on Monday night the excitement is still there on Sunday.

I don't understand why you would trust this.

We have an overall losing record against the Raiders and have lost the last 3 times we have played them.

As for my ideal schedule...

Week 1...9/7 vs. Commanders on MNF. I can't think of a better way to launch the new stadium.

Week 2...9/13 @ Packers on SNF

Week 3...9/20 @ Chiefs

Week 4...9/27 vs. Falcons

Week 5...10/5 vs. Giants on MNF

Week 6...10/11 @ Broncos

Week 7...10/18 vs. Panthers

Week 8...10/25 @ Eagles

Week 9...bye week

Week 10...11/8 @ Commanders on SNF

Week 11...11/15 vs. Eagles

Week 12...11/22 @ Giants

Week 13...11/26 vs. Raiders on Thanksgiving

December swoon never happens.

Week 14...12/6 @ Saints

Week 15...12/13 @ Buccaneers

Week 16...12/21 vs. Chargers on MNF

Week 17...12/27 vs. Seahawks

I can. Let the game be played on SNF week 1 and have the week 2 game be on MNF.

Who cares what happens Sep to Nov. Concentrate on Dec.

at Raiders
at Bucs
Seahawks
Skins

maybe then we can have a winning record in Dec.

IMO, each team should open and close their schedule each season with a division opponent.
