Malachi Lawrence is a beast

I just wonder who is a comparison? A guy who shot up the charts late and ended up productive? Not saying it hasn’t happened….i remember Bruce Irvin kind of shot up back in the day.
Demarcus Ware. He was kinda good.

I saw his comparison as Jason Pierre-Paul. I'll take it.

I think if people want to be "negative all the time," that's their issue and if it's me, I just move on past the posts. But the absolute need to engage them I see out of a few here speaks to a little something in their column too, IMO. Even when some just point out flaws they think they see in the team, that gets a reflex reaction out of some. You'd almost think that some can't ever have anything they support be talked about in anything other than a positive light or they take it as a hit to their self-worth or something. I say, let everyone "fan" the way they want. If it's difficult to see their spiel, ignore their spiel. But forgive me, because I'm so curious about why people find others' spiel as difficult to see and yet feel the need to comment on it some more, even before it happens. Just fascinating to me.
Nice try trying to justify it to yourself. It’s ok to criticize the team. I do it too. What’s not cool is crapping on them 24x7x365. You kinda fall into that category. If you think that’s cool, that’s your issue.

Money talks lol
it was actually personal and a pretty cool story.

One of Irvin’s brothers was gay and Irvin wanted to advocate as a straight ally to the LGBTQ community, which is really bold considering how much deeper the stigma is within the black community.

Michael is a really complex individuals. Angel and devil and infinitely human,

It’s jsut one of the things that made him one of my cowboys heroes. I’ll call out his ridiculous antics but always respect the fact that he wasn’t just a stereotypical diva wide receiver.

Here’s an article for those interested.

Alles klar, Herr Kommissar?

Why do you and the other resident "I just know others are going to be negative" Komissar care what others write? If you're confident in your positivity, nothing anyone else says should move you. Almost makes you seem like you're actually not so sure.
That would hurt if that were true. But you swung and missed, brother.

You're right about that it shouldn't move me either way. It doesn't. At all! I'm a little embarrassed for those here who NEVER have a positive thing to say about ANYHTHING. Spending your time, which the richest man can't buy, on a team you don't believe in is absolutely nuts to me. I do feel bad for them because I try to be positive in the real world as I am here, so if they are this negative here, I'm sure they are just as bad over there. IMO, it's those so-called fans who gives us a bad name. I never believed we have the worst fans in the sports until I started hanging here. Now I know why SAS said that we do.

Kommisar? I'm sure you meant Kommissar. If you did than what you said doesn't make sense. Please don't try to say I'm being a communist around here because that would be another miss. That would be strike two. One more strike and I'm sending you to the dugout. :)
Sorry I missed reading this discussion in real time but I was working all day in the Agricultural Collective just outside the Kremlin.

And so it begins. What’s next, we’re going to relive how strong Mazi was or how great the Ewok looked every off season?

There’s dude’s I’ve seen at my gym that look like that but it doesn’t mean they’re good athletes but on the other hand there’s dudes at my gym that were very recent former NFL athletes who were very good and you would never know it based on their size and physique.

But hey, it’s never too early to get the hype train rolling, is it?

Chill. I don’t think anyone is claiming he’s going to be great. Only that he’s built the right way.

I know very little about this player.

What I do know is he is a first round pedigree edge rusher with some solid talent around him.

Looking forward to them putting it all together and him being a part of it.
I don't know if he's a first-round pedigree edge rusher. He was taken in the first, but up until his performance in the combine, it appeared that he was more of a second-rounder based on his production. I hope they can make his performance match his measurables.

I'm hoping for the best but realize he may have been overdrafted based on measurables. Of course, DeMarcus Ware also shot up boards when he was drafted. If I remember right, he was considered a late first-round pick/early second-rounder leading up to the draft. He had 10.5 sacks his final season at Troy (Sun Belt Conference) while Malachi had 7 his last season at UCF (Big 12, so tougher conference). We can only hope that Lawrence turns out to be anything close to Ware.

Right way for what? A body builder? Look t pictures of Tom Brady, Romo, Eli Manning…they have dd bods. Look at Isiah Simmons, he was built like a beast. Pretty sure Downs doesn’t look too impressive with his shirt off.

Point being there is no “right way”, it’s how they play and that’s all that matters.

He was a 1st round player to nfl teams before the combine. It's the media scouts that didn't have a clue. Same thing happened with Ware.

I haven't heard any team say they had Lawrence as a first-round pick before the combine. Where's the evidence for that?

Teams do not elevate a player due to combine performance. Most of the time they already know who is going to test well or not and who will be elite. You can go back and hear one of the scouts on with Broaddus and they were on him way before the combine. And then they ended up hiring one of his coaches too.

I think it's funny that Parcells wanted to draft Marcus Spears first and Ware second. He obviously didn't think Ware had risen to be a top-10 pick. I think he was a late first-rounder before the combine and Lawrence was an early to mid-second-rounder.

Teams do care about the combine performances

Nope, the media scouts had him in the 2nd round. Then just like Malachi the local media a week before the combine started hearing that they could go with one of their picks.

Now you’re moving the goal posts. Not playing.
