I really think they need to move this kid over to the 1tech. He is so much of a mismatch for the Center its not funny. He's a more athletic McClain, and we saw how much of a mismatch McClain was last yr. Irving and Collins inside would draw so much attention inside that the DE's would be Free'd up. TCrawford would be ideal for the 3 but his body is never healthy. Would not be suprised to see Irving and Collins start inside this yr.

Irving/Collins is a pretty decent inside rush. Just ask GB how many holds it takes to get to the center of Irving's pass rush up the middle.

I'm hoping we can find some guys at DE between Mayowa/Moore/Tapper/Lawrence/Rookie and then bring Jaylon as a blitz option.

That actually sounds semi-respectable.

Awesome vid, thanks, Asthma. His bullrush is a thing of damn beauty, as are his innate instincts. Law did say multiple times that Irving lacks true bend that you want in a DE, I hope he's been working on this, or if he's just too large, then a swim move (also touched on by Law).

Just a freaking wrecking ball. He's so tall, his butt is so high in the air when in his three point stances
Marinelli said he normally does not like really tall players like Irving, but that Irving was an exception because he bends so well. He repeated the part about bending a few times in the interview which was during training camp last year.

MCollins was my favorite in the draft before I came to realize what a phenomenal draft it was.
Those comments by the Law about Collins disengagement I noticed he still got to the ball. Strong

Those comments actually diminished his work a bit IMO because those were stunts were the DL are taught to shoot the gap. They're not trying to stack and shed blocks. They're stunting into the gap and that's the way the technique should be.

Still a good video.

Watching that highlight vid, and watching him closely last year, I didn't see it all too often.

But I'd certainly take Marinelli's word over mine, X!

Did you not watch the clip? He got destoyed when taking on the double team...Geesh:rolleyes:

That's exactly what I don't want. A NT that's getting blown off the line 10 yards down the field.:omg:

Did you not watch where they specifically showed him splitting the double team to make a tackle for loss?

Collins' game is not holding up the POA against a OG/C combo and anchoring; he uses quickness over power. His squatty stature belies his skills set. If you watched him at Nebraska his last season they played him out of position at NT and he got destroyed and washed down-the-line on a consistent basis. I think it was Stephen Jones that was mentioning that their evaluation of him was based off his sophomore season in 2014 when Nebraska utilized him in a similar fashion to a 3-tech.

I love Collins more and more, he's starting to remind me a bit of Glover, has a way to go, but I think he can be as good if he's as hard of a worker.

Yeah I thought of Glover when I saw him. He isn't really a 1 tech, don't know where that comes from but he isn't Russell Maryland, Russell had more anchor.

Maybe he can play 1 tech on 3rd and long. Glover is a good reference though.

I like Heath too.
Yep, I've never been down on him. I liked him as a rookie. Yeah, he got lit up by Megatron (along with the rest of the secondary) but he should have. When people saw him out of position, I saw him running past the cornerbacks to run down Calvin Johnson. A safety!

When people thought they saw Adrian Peterson run over Heath in a game... I saw a young UDFA safety who was going to plant AP on his back until some other Viking players came and held Peterson up and pushed him forward.

He's never been the bad player most fans thought they saw.

He's smart and will knock the snot out of you. Also, like the video narrator says, the ball just seems to find Heath. That is something that you either have or you don't.

I'm not saying he's going to be all-world but he will be at least as good as Church/Wilcox. I fully expect him to be better. His athleticism is superior to either of those guys, he hits almost as hard as Wilcox, and he's just as smart as Church. Heath may be the fastest player in the secondary and he is currently the only ball-hawk back there. He blitzes as well as Scandrick and packs a much bigger wallop.

100% RKG as well.

Heath is why it would have been lunacy to pay big money to either Wilcox or Church.

He is also why I advocate a player like Budda Baker (with moving B Jones back to CB). With Heath at SS and Baker at FS, there would be two ball-hawks right down the center of the Dallas defense. I also wouldn't mind Peppers at SS and Heath at FS.

I understand that many fans don't think Jones is a CB but I think he could move back there with little problem. He has the athleticism (speed) and played pretty well there as a rookie. I feel that he was moved to safety, not because he failed at corner, but because the team needed a good FS in a bad way. I think the team would have no problem moving him back to CB.

Anyway, yeah... I like Heath a lot.

I've a believer in Heath too.

A lot of zoners have us taking a safety early over in the Draft Zone, but I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't take a safety until late on day 3, or not at all.

I'd be more than shocked. This or the confidence people have in Heath as a starter.

DE and CB are much bigger priorities. Just look at who they've been meeting with in pre-draft visits. CB's and DE's galore. Met with a few safeties, but guys who are projected to go late.

Depends on how much confidence coaches have on Heath as a starter.

We'll see. This draft is loaded with safeties. If we don't take one, it speaks to how much we like Heath. I like Heath but I think it would be a mistake not to take a safety. There are some good ones.
