Maliek Collins and double teams

Has been double teamed 43 times on pass rushing downs, most in NFL.
Just thought I'd throw that nugget out there since I haven't read it on the forums.

That's what happens when the player next to you at the other DT is a re-tread that Marinelli has convinced people he can turn into a great DL.

Hopefully, as Quinn's impact is felt, it will loosen things up for Collins. One thing I noted in that Miami game, there were quite a few times Lawrence or Quinn had their guy beat around the corner and Rosen just stepped up and there wasn't any interior pressure.

If this continues, it's again another sign of the misguided Marinelli/front office approach to the DT spot.

i have noticed that our LBs often have a clear shot at rushing the Qb but they dont do it .

Two guards and a C to block the two DTs we put out there. I'd always double Collins and leave our next DT singled too. We need more juice at DT, particularly with Crawford recovering from injury, and now out.

Clogging the middle was supposed to be Woods job. He sucked the 1st.... 2 games. He finally fell to injury. To me it looked like he was gassed during the Commander game. Frequently battling to a stalemate with the center. We need his size, but he gets no push.

You very well may be right ...... If so I think it could be another by product of the new lax NFL training camps ....... A guy the size of Big Woods needs a tough training camp to get in shape ........ Just ask Nate Newton.

Who here is a retread?

Covington is a solid 5 year vet and Woods showed last year that he was a quality 1 tech.

Collins gets doubled teamed because we've rushed four the majority of our snaps. In case you were unaware, there are five OL so someone is getting double teamed. When DEs get double teamed it is generally by a TE or RB. The interior OL are going to double your best pass rushing interior lineman.

This really just is that simple. Too bad it doesn't fit your one-note "Marinelli sucks" narrative.

And if you have a better 1T, guess what? While Collins is being blocked by two guys, your better one tech has more one on one opportunities. Or maybe he gets doubled and Collins now finds himself in more one on one situations.

Maybe we should keep covington at the 1 on passing downs to force the center to his side so collins gets the 1 on 1 matchup. Otherwise if the center has no one to block he's gonna help on collins side.

So basically teams treat him like our 1-tech which is another reason why we need another 1-tech, somebody big that commands double teams on the other side of him...
