That's the update? Didn't we pretty much figure that out already?

I mean I guess the are confirming it and letting us know there was not some weird medical screw up that resulted in an amputation thus anding his career... I don't know. :p

Really looking forward to what this guy becomes. We rarely ever draft DTs in the early rounds. Two 3rd round DTs in the past 10 seasons (Crawford and Collins, both in the past 5 years, none in the previous 5 years). Earliest DT before them was 11 years ago with Hatcher in the 3rd round (actually a 3-4 DE but close enough). I guess we draft DTs so rarely that it's so exciting when we finally do. But, hey, when you're absolutely loaded with DT talent, no need to draft them (sarcasm).

Now that I look at it, the only recent early round drafted pure DTs were Willie Blade in the 3rd round of the 2001 draft and Russell Maryland #1 overall in the 1991 draft.

Yeah, he at least could have done some real math...Like he had surgery on May 28th (making up the date) and 10-12 weeks would be projected to return August 6th - 20th per the 10-12 week recovery cycle. At the early end of the projected return date he would have the opportunity to play in all of the pre-season games...bla bla bla...The end of the projection 2 pre-season games.

Probably so.
However, it also could be knowing it's the off season, they know this board needs some material to post about, and thought we needed something to rehash. And somehow that would lead to a FO thread or McClain missing voluntary workouts thread, so they can see people blow up. Then Jerry sits back, takes a sip of Jerry juice and snickers as he watches posts fly by on his big video board..... :muttley:

Here's hoping he's ready to contribute sooner than expected. We'll need all the help we can get to boost our pass rush.

Realistically, I'd imagine it might be mid season before he's fully recovered and well conditioned for the season's grind.

Then there's still the issue of having missed all of the OTAs, mini camps and TC. The mental recovery will be ongoing.

You would make a much better reporter than these lazy people who can't do something so simple to make the story more interesting

Does he have an injury history? I just want to know if he is a sissy or not. It is really hard to tell with this group of posters.

I got more information on Maliek Collin's recovery listening to "Talkin' Cowboys" on the mothership than I did in this report. Nate Newton was talking about the D-line and how Maliek's injury would probably keep Tyrone Crawford on the interior. Nate also mentioned Collins was seen at OTA's post surgery on a scooter attending meetings. I didn't expect that but it does tell me more about the rookie. In contrast to a dude like Ro McClain not there because he has an understanding with the FO that this time of year he will spend with his kids. Everyone is doing what they need to do. I have high hopes for Collins' career as a Cowboy. I can't wait to see how he progresses after his recovery.
