OXNARD, Calif. — Safety Malik Hooker did some individual work in pads for the first time in training camp, and Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen Jones believes Hooker will ramp up his practice work soon.

"Hopefully next week. Hopefully he'll be jumping in," Jones said.

Hooker signed with the Cowboys on July 27, but the club has made an effort to gradually increase his field work because he missed the final 14 games of last season with a torn Achilles' tendon as a member of the Colts.

"Getting better. He's getting close," head coach Mike McCarthy said.

Counting the days till they cut Thompson.

On a 1 year contract, he gets hurt again his career sinks like the titanic.

I haven't thought about that possibility. Your right how will he get any club to nibble if he fails to stay healthy again.

He looked like he had so much potential in college but I guess the injury warning signs were there.

Admittedly, I have never watched him play a single down. I remember the name from the draft, but couldn't tell you one thing about him.

ASSUMING he's healthy, what exactly do we have? How good is he compared to what we've had? How good is he compared to some of the better safeties in the league?

He’s a balhawk

When healthy? Top 3 centerfield / ballhawk Free safety in the league. Hands down the best deep ball guy we’ve had in 20+ years

I doubt he plays tonight. Maybe he gets some playing time the following game, or the last game.
If he has good practices and shows better than others, then I do not see him getting a lot of plays. Maybe a few series. Which may be al he needs.

I watched all hid games at OSU. This guy is a ball hawk. He can be a difference maker. I hope he gets his chance to show it.
I am not one of these fans that goes on and on about injury history. That is in the past. However, also one can do is hope that is in the past. But that is not me.
