Malik Turner has me not so worried about losing Gallup

I am comfortable with Cedric and Turner as the 3 and 4 next year. It will be sad to see Gallup go! It is important for Dak to have a guy like Shultz - that is going to be a tough one.

I agree, hate losing any key player and we will have to wait and see how it all plays out in the off season. One good thing is Dallas knows that they have guys like Wilson and Turner they can count on, especially Wilson who played much of the snaps when Gallup was injured and yet this offense was clicking at that point.

Anyone else thinking this last night? When Turner has gotten his opportunities, he has produced well. Good hands and has some speed and moves. I like him. With him as our #3 next year I am not so worried about losing Gallup.

Cant keep them all.

To me we need to keep this defense together. Gregory and Kearse need to be the top 2 priorities in the offseason.

Gallup is gone and I would let Shultz walk if he wants big money.
No way they pay a #3 receiver 13 plus million, they have a few cheaper options to replace him. I would also move on from Shultz, think they can upgrade at a cheaper price

Michael Gallup isn’t going to get this out of control pay day a lot of folks seem to suggest he will be getting.

it was 3 seasons ago he got 1100 yards and that hasn’t been the case since. If injury is mentioned, that only hurts his potential value ultimately.

He’s got 403 yards and 1 TD in a contract year. Believe me, if McCarthy wants to keep him we’ll sign him.

If MM wants to draft, we’ll draft to his liking. MM has a good history finding and developing WR’s.

I would be surprised if we don’t keep Gallup on a fair deal for both sides unless he and his agent feel he is being under targeted here.

Stats among the WRs are warped because we have so many weapons that can play.

You can go find a guy like Shultz they are available in FA and the draft. Dak made Shultz, not the other way around. I like Shultz, but he is not worth the money he will get offered.
Dak made Shultz is a silly statement. Shultz gets open, finds space and is where he is supposed to be. He makes plays and extends drives. That is not necessarily an easy thing to find and getting Dak comfortable with a new guy could be a long year. Dak's play is better the last 2 weeks and Shultz is a big reason. You could see it a bit last week and even more this week. When Dak relies on Shultz his play is better!

Are you aware that Gallup missed nearly half the season? I will take that bet. A guy like Gallup will want to have an opportunity to be a #1.

Only way Gallup stays here is if they move on from Cooper. Which I dont see happening.

I could see how it would be silly to a poster like you.

True but I think the Cowboys will not want to invest much more at WR when we have some other FA that will need to be signed. Gallup may not get a top pay but I think he can get more than he will likely get in Dallas.

Guess you didn’t read the part of my post that mentions his injury.

I think Wilson is more proven in that role than Turner. Wilson actually had to be the third receiver with Gallup out, and he did it while our offense was clicking.

While I think Gallup is gone based simply on the fact that he'll want No. 2 money when he's a No. 3 here, I'd find a way to keep Schultz.

Nope I saw it, then you said this as if the injury had nothing to do with it:

He’s got 403 yards and 1 TD in a contract year.

Wouldnt you say the two are directly related?

I agree. I think it’s more a combination of him and his agent feeling he won’t get the targets he needs here to at least be a productive # 2 and a team paying him commensurate to that potential production. Maybe a team like the Giants.

He may also want to stay if he doesn’t get that much action on the market or if the only teams top bidding are bottom dwellers like Detroit and Jacksonville.

He’s not a selfish player but he knows he needs to earn more than that 3rd round contract he’s been playing on.

We also would accept a 3rd or 4th round tender losing him, so that’s the other variable.

Wilson is more proven, but much more brittle. Given equal opportunity I think Turner becomes the better overall WR. Probably the better blocker as well.
