Maller: Bledsoe Undecided On Retirement

It would be mega interesting to see Drew go into a camp actually battling for a starting job.

That has never happened in his career. He came in an heir apparent, was traded from NE w/o ever having to earn his spot in a summer camp (nor was he given the chance once Brady won out), left Buffalo in a huff, and came to Dallas under the condition he be the starter. This summer, we now know he was in more than nominal comp. with Tony, but it was his job to lose, not Tony's to win.

I'd love to see the guy actually WIN a starting spot in a REAL honest, admitted competition, or at least agree to lower himself to a summer QB duel out. But I suspect he would retire rather than enter the fray.

No more noblesse oblige for Bledsoe in the NFL, still trading on his 1993 pedigree.

I remember Bledsoe making a remark back in camp, "I better not get hurt, I probably won't get my job back (chuckle)". Random blogs also said players were liking playing with Romo, because of his improvisational style. Maybe Romo beat out Bledsoe but BP kept his reps down so the media couldn't start up a full blown QB cont. that early in the season.

Acccording to Matt Mosely Bledsoe ran a 4.7 40 coming out of college. Spears ran a 5.03. Bledsoe's older now so it might be a good race. See if you can set it up. I'll take Bledsoe for 10.:laugh2:

Mel Kiper said that Romo came in at 5.0 in the 40 at the combine in 2003. Straight line speed doesn't matte as much as quickness, lateral agility and good, quick decision making. Bledsoe is lacking in quickness, lateral movement and decision making. It has been his weakness his entire career and is just worse now.

Shouldnt this be in the NFL Zone? He is no longer a Cowboy.

He wont help Romo.
He wont go in when asked/told to.
Bill wanted to get Vinny in here because he felt he lost Drew.

Ciao!

If Bentley is healthy next season and they make a couple more OL upgrades, Cleveland might actually be a good situation for Bledsoe. I'd put my money there as the starting point for him.

Detroit could theoretically fit his talents considering what Warner did for Martz, but of the listed teams I'd suggest the best bet is Cleveland if he wants to enjoy any success.

Would Dan Marino want to be a backup?

Why is Drew Bledsoe being put into the same class as Marino here? :bang2:

Oakland/Minnesota/Tampa Bay/Houston/Cleavland/Detriot

Please Lord... don't let him go to Oakland or Detroit. The 2 highest sack allowing teams in the league should be marked off the list IMMEDIATELY!

and Minny Tech, they seem sold on that Tavaris Jackson kid out of Alabama State Univ.

So Tampa, Hou, Clevland. which one has the highest number 1 draft pick? Tampa right?

Cowboys QB Drew Bledsoe said he is undecided on whether he will retire after the season. Bledsoe returns to his native Washington as a frustrated backup after losing his starting job to Tony Romo in the seventh game of the year. "It's hard going back home and not playing," Bledsoe said. "I will have a ton of people at the game."

I think if he REALLY wanted to retire he would not keep it a secret. I suspect he is going to wait until the season is over, field the offers he gets from teams and then decide if he wants to play for one of those teams or not.

Oakland/Minnesota/Tampa Bay/Houston/Cleavland/Detriot

All are possible suitors and there may be more.

I predict we will know by March what Bledsoe's plans are.

Knowing this teams luck, Bledsoe will go to a team like Detroit next year and lead them to the playoffs while we struggle with Romo and have a losing season.

Munchis.....Out!!!
