Bucs coach Jon Gruden wants more quarterback options for 2007 than what he has now. With some room under the salary cap (an estimated $25 million) for the first time during his tenure with the team, Gruden said he is ready go shopping. Potential free agents include Jake Plummer, Drew Bledsoe, Daunte Culpepper, Jeff Garcia, Byron Leftwich and David Carr.

Gruden said he's also interested in Wednesday's Sugar Bowl, which matches Notre Dame's Brady Quinn and LSU's JaMarcus Russell, two quarterbacks expected to go high in April's draft. "There's a couple of interesting guys that'll be flipping the ball around," Gruden said.

If he wants to get annihilated again, like last year. That is a team with a dreadful Oline.

Bledsoe is not mobile enough.

Gruden needs a West Coast type.

Of that group I'd take David Carr easily.

Aaron Brooks might also be on the list.

My money would be on him trying Plummer.

PAT PAT PAT him on the back and send him on over. Be sure to tie the "fragile statue: handle with care" tag on him so he makes it over to Tampa in one piece. ;)

Does this give the Chris Simms evenually being traded to the Cowboys rumor a teeny bit a validity?

Tampa's line is bad. Bledsoe would get slaughtered. I don't think Carr has the brains or desire to be a good qb in the NFL.

Not sure I see the TB as the best fit for Bledsoe....but I think he will find a starting job regardless. For some reason I think Minnesota is a strong possibility, and they have one of the best olines in the league.

That's true. A possibility for sure.

A lot of talk about the Texans bringing in Plummer. I think with the Kubiak connection that Plummer is a Texan next year.

I see Bledsoe retiring. I truly don't see any teams showing much interest in him. Any team that does approach him will probably offer the vet minimum and not much more. Most teams in need of a QB also are in need of an O-line. That makes them all bad fits for Drew.

Brad Johnson has been better decision maker than Drew and struggled this season in Minny. I would think that Drew would really struggle there since his decision making was at its worst this year.

I do not want to see Chris Simms in Dallas. I don't think he is horrible, but I don't think he is very good either. He may make a decent back up somewhere, but the main reason I don't want him in Dallas is because he is left handed. Not that being left handed is a bad thing, but I wouldn't trust Columbo to protect his back side.

I thought they just gave Simms some $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and an extension? I agree with you though.

they offered him money but no word on an agrement that i know off....

and the only "quarterback" that would work with Tampa's horrid o-line would be Marcus Vick, Mike Vick, or Ron Mexico.
