Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel told the NFL Network last night that he’s prepared to seek a trade. “This is to let everybody know that I’m not happy anymore and things are not going well,” Samuel said. “At first I thought it was going well, but it’s not. We have a difference of opinion in my value. They think I’m worth one price and the other teams think I’m worth a lot more. If a long-term deal can’t be done at fair numbers for me and New England, then I want to be traded.” ... Samuel is technically free to negotiate with other clubs. But the price of acquiring him would be a pair of first-round draft picks. And even if a team is willing to give up that much, the Patriots would still have the right to match.

The Titans met with Chargers running back Michael Turner and will soon meet with former Patriots running back Corey Dillon. Then it's decision time. "We are interested in both of them,'' Titans Coach Jeff Fisher said Wednesday. "Both of them can help us out, but they are different situations. One is just getting started, and the other is kind of winding down. But Corey has something left." The Titans also remain interested in re-signing Chris Brown, who spent most of last season on the bench. Dillon's scheduled visit with the Titans on Wednesday was postponed, but Fisher said he's talked to the 10-year veteran "several times" and "he has given me every indication he wants to play'' even though he's talked about retiring.

Adam “Pacman” Jones talked about his meeting Tuesday with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, apologized for his actions and promised that he has learned some difficult lessons in an interview with former NFL star Deion Sanders that aired in part on the NFL Network Wednesday. Jones, who is facing a suspension from the league over a string of off-field incidents, also said he considers himself a target in Nashville because of his appearance and his early holdout, and stated that he hasn’t gotten a fair shake from the media. “I’ve got some things I need to apologize for,” Jones said. “I apologize to the NFL for the publicity they’re getting. I apologize to the Tennessee Titans for the negative publicity I’ve brought to the team. I apologize to my teammates for letting them down. I just pray to God that when this is over with, I just can be a normal player. I don’t want to say a normal player, but just be one of the guys and enjoy myself on the football field.”

Claude Terrell is on his way to St. Louis for the Rams’ offseason conditioning program. Terrell’s agent, Kennard McGuire, just can’t say when. "He’s been in constant contact with the organization," McGuire told the Post-Dispatch on Wednesday. "He has some family situations that he has to resolve. He had some things that were unexpected that he had to take care of." By the end of this week, Terrell will have missed the first three weeks of the Rams’ offseason conditioning program.

The Cardinals gave offensive lineman Mike Gandy a surprisingly good contract — as long as he plays well enough to stick around after this season. The three-year deal is worth about $14 million, including almost $5 million in bonuses. But his 2007 salary is just $600,000, with his salary jumping significantly in 2008 ($3.5 million) and 2009 ($5 million). The structure allows the Cards to take less of a salary-cap hit in 2007. It also would allow them to cut Gandy after this season if he does not work out.

Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi recently underwent followup surgery on his broken left wrist in preparation for what he hopes is an injury-free 2007 season. Bruschi, spotted Tuesday by Ch. 4’s Steve Burton with his hand bandaged, broke the scaphoid bone during training camp last year and was never healthy thereafter. Last night a league source confirmed Bruschi underwent surgery in late March to have a pin removed because he was still feeling pain, but that source said Bruschi expects to be ready for training camp.

After completing his third visit as a free agent, cornerback Jamar Fletcher found the team he wants to join. Now, he sits back and waits to see if a deal can be reached with the Texans. Fletcher visited with the Texans on Wednesday. After taking previous visits to Tennessee and Kansas City, Fletcher said the Texans are the team he would prefer to join. "I believe this team is on the rise and doing a lot of good things to better the team," Fletcher said. "It's obvious when you bring in (quarterback Matt) Schaub and (running back) Ahman Green. You've got a young defense with a lot of young talent, and I think with me here we can definitely take this thing a long way."

Bears DT Tommie Harris weighed in on the ongoing Lance Briggs contract squabble. "Life goes on, man. I would love to have Briggs here, but it is a business also," he said of the linebacker's dispute with the Bears. "We will see how it plays out. I wish the best for Lance. He's more than just a player to me. He's a teammate, and we're friends. It would be sad not to have him here. As long as he gets paid, as long as he gets his money, everybody will be happy." …

To help ward off athletic mortality, Broncos safety John Lynch, 35, is mixing in three 40-minute boxing sessions a week to his conditioning routine this offseason.
