Three square meals just wasn't enough for Tank Johnson. Records obtained by the Sun-Times show the Chicago Bear spent almost $700 buying assorted junk food during the 60 days he spent in the Cook County Jail, according to the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES.

And while the 6-foot-3, 300-pound lineman is built like a vending machine, the roster of items he ordered reads like he raided one, too:

• 162 beef sticks
• 40 honey bun sweet rolls
• 35 summer sausage blocks
• 35 bags of barbecue chips

While he and other inmates were given things like a scoop of grits for breakfast, a bologna sandwich for lunch and a chicken leg for dinner, that's hardly enough for a massive professional athlete.

Instead, Johnson supplemented his diet by relying on the commissary and all the treats it offers -- though nutritionists don't advise anyone follow Johnson's food choices.

Records show Johnson ordered 10 small jugs of fruit punch, five lemonades and 22 cups of coffee, in addition to what he got with meals.

He also appeared to try to put together a Mexican dinner, ordering nine tortillas, six packs of refried beans and nine packages of jalapeno cheese spread during his stay.

Johnson, 25, spent 60 days in jail for violating his probation on gun charges and, records show, spent much of his time reading and visiting with friends and teammates.

He spent his time in isolation, away from other inmates and the weight room. He spent 23 hours a day in an 8-foot-by-10-foot cell.

Authorities investigating felony dogfighting at a Surry County, Virginia property owned by Falcons quarterback Michael Vick could have enough evidence to present to a specially called grand jury before a scheduled July session, Commonwealth Attorney Gerald Poindexter told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Tuesday. That evidence includes possible testimony from two people who have contacted authorities - one out of state - claiming they have information to assist the investigation. Poindexter was in a jurisdiction outside of Surry County Tuesday doing due diligence on the background of one of the people who has contacted him about the investigation. Investigators also plan to make a similar trip soon concerning the out-of-state contact. "The investigation is proceeding," Poindexter said.

Jeff Fisher indicated on Thursday the Titans aren't interested in former Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans receiver Eric Moulds, who is still available. New Titans receivers coach Fred Graves knows Moulds well, however, having worked with him in Buffalo. Former Titans receiver Justin McCareins, now with the New York Jets, is another possibility if he's released.

In an effort to possibly add another veteran to the defensive line, the Texans will visit with tackle Sam Adams today. The 6-3, 350-pounder played high school football at Cy-Creek and was a standout at Texas A&M. Adams has played for Seattle, Baltimore, Oakland, Buffalo and Cincinnati.

A source said the Dolphins and Chiefs remain about two rounds apart on draft-pick compensation for QB Trent Green.

Broncos receiver David Kircus won't lose his job over the incident that led to his May 21 arrest for second-degree assault, coach Mike Shanahan said Tuesday. Shanahan said Kircus passed a polygraph test Friday and the coach said he believes the receiver acted in self-defense in a fistfight with a Centennial man in the early morning hours of May 20. "David came to me and said, 'Hey, Coach, I guarantee I did not take the first swing. I defended myself. I probably used poor judgment, being at the wrong place at the wrong time.' "I said, 'Well, David, I'll give you a chance to take a lie-detector test,' and he wanted to do that. And he passed it with flying colors, so he will be on our football team," Shanahan said.

Just curious.............. is everyone allowed to bring in groceries so they can cook what they want in the county jail or is this a special privilage extended to the likes of Tank only.

From what I hear, if you have the green, you can get anything you want in prison, including prostitutes.

I wonder what the NFLPA/NFL agreement says about lie detector testing? Since they are not admissable in court, I doubt any team can require the test be performed. Since the player volunteered, it is probably ok. But what if he is telling the truth and the machine says he lied?
