A 31-year-old man fell to his death at the San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings football game on Sunday.

The fan had apparently gone to the concession area at San Francisco’s Monster Park during halftime of the game and attempted to hop atop the wall to sit. According to San Francisco police spokesman Sgt. Neville Gittens the man misjudged the jump and fell nearly 20 feet.

Paramedics immediately responded but the man was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.

That is dreadful, expect even stricter stadium regulations and maybe new railings, terribly sad.

My heart goes out to the family.

Don't take unnecessary risks people, strange things happen.:(

Something tells me alcohol might have been involved here.
That's a good point, I didn't think of that, yikes. I wonder if that will clamp down on alcohol sales in stadiums, perhaps establish limits.

Well, we're pretty well behaved compared to succer fans in Europe! And I doubt that team owners will surrender hefty revenue garnered from alcohol sales. This was just a freak accident.

nothing will ever shut or slow down alcohol sales at nfl stadiums.

No way no how.

Sure they will. They've already attempted such a feat by ridding the stadiums of Lager Luggers. Now, you've got to go get your own instead of waiting for 3 hours 'til Sir Pouralot shows up. Brilliant!!

EDIT: Sad that fella fell of the wall. Darwinism at it's finest.......................

I'm really surprised this does not happen more.

I have been to the Boston garden 5 or so times this year in the upper section to see celtics . No kidding - the first 6 rows are step downs and the railing for first row is at best 3 feet high. One slip and its a 50 foot fall.

I believe in the meadowlands and some older NFL venues there was plexiglass barriers to save the masses from themselves....I'm not sure newer venues are as in tune to stop the knuckleheads from falling out of the upper decks.
