Every San Diego game I see Cromartie gets an int. Even though the return got called back, he just haulted a colts drive at the end of the 1rst half. Seriously Cromartie, Santonio Holmes and Joseph Addai (granted I wouldn't have gone RB) will be making Pro-bowls for years

Jeff Ireland/Bill Parcells/Jerry Jones really dropped the ball here and in that draft in general. 0 starters 2 years in.

Did Carp force Cowboys to select him?

No, hate Cowboys staff for picking him, he had no control over it.

Bobby Carpenter could have intercepted that pass.

Hell...Bobby Carpenter's mustache could have intercepted that pass, housed it, then impregnated Manning's little sister - Eli - in the end zone.

Umm Cromartie did nothing special to make that interception, wayne tipped it right to him. In reality it should have been a good gain catch right in front of cromartie

Hindsight is 20/20.

Yeah, Cromartie went the pick after Carpenter. Yeah, Cromartie has been an impressive playmaker. But there was not a lot of inertia to take Cromartie with that pick. It was mostly Carpenter/Lawson/Wimbley arguments with a few people throwing in their votes for tackles like Justice or McNeill or safeties.

If we could re-draft today, then yeah, we probably don't take Carpenter. But then again, Cromartie probably goes to the Rams over Tye Hill and we don't have a shot at him.

In other words, a lot of teams miss.

And I'm sure you were on of the many telling yourself that Bobby would be a stud with his Dad's coach utilizing him right.

I for one wanted Cromartie. I saw him play at FSU and he was a stud. Had superstar written all over him there. And he will be a corner in the future that all others are compared to. Kind of like Champ Bailey today. He is tall , atheltic and fast.

This teams needs a DB like him. Cant go wrong with the Swagger guys from the florida schools. Unless they end up in jail:eek:

Ha! At no point did I want us to draft Carpenter. I wanted us to trade up and grab Kameron Wimbley. I realize hindsight is 20/20, and I was only iffy on drafting Cromartie, but I've always felt Carpenter wasn't a 3-4 OLB.

No, you wanted to trade down and grab either Wimbley or Carpenter, but only if Lawson wasn't there at 18, which means not only did you want Carpenter over Cromartie, but you were clueless as to who was likely to be drafted where.

Actually he wanted Wimberly. His review of their play must have been exhausting.

This was an entire month before the draft. Notice at the time my statement would leave you to believe that Lawson was expected to go higher than Wimbley which wasn't the case leading up to the draft. So yes early in the process I was open to drafting Carpenter (still not a first option), but wasn't someone who convinced myself that he was a stud.

I have to admit i liked the pick at the time, i saw him alot at osu and really thought he would be a big player, the pick was a mistake. You cant hit on every pick, bill made up for it getting players in later rounds like barber, witten, canty, ratliff, crayton, james, and getting tony as an undrafter fa, even though carpenter is a bust bill hit on more picks then he missed on.

I'm not a Parcells homer but I can acknowledge when he did some great things. You are right, he and Ireland really made error with drafting Carpenter. But the reality is all GM's make mistakes. Even famous GM's like Carmen Policy drafted bad players. It happens. Overall, I think Parcells did an excellent job and that's what you should focus on. There is no GM that will yield a perfect draft. This forum was debating between Lawson and Wimbley. I agree that half this forum was opposed to drafting Carpenter and it's funny how some are denying that now. But I do agree with others that Cromartie wasn't even discussed as an option at the time so I don't think it's fair to complain about not drafting him

So, who was it? Cromartie? Wimbley? Lawson? Or Maroney?

Does it change weekly, monthly, or yearly?

With out even reading the post I'll tell you if given a redo I'd take Marooney. Only reason I didn't mention him is cause Addai is better.

dallasfan on why Cromartie would be a bad pick:http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1014142&postcount=31

Cromartie would be a bad pick b/c
1.)he would play behind A.Glenn for atleast this year and probably part of next year
2.)that's too much money tied into the secondary, unless you're gonna move him to FS, which obviously means we don't draft Watkins
3.)Best case scenarion, is if Cromartie becomes as good as advirtised, it just means either Newman or Henry will walk, b/c there is no way we pay starting money to 3 CBs.
LOL!
