Man Is There An OT We Could Use!

I know it's early to talk about the next draft, but since this team is still suffering the ramifications of taking a TE in the 2nd rd. when OTs like Marcus McNeil & Andrew Whitworth were still available, I feel it bears on this year.

There is an OT out of Central Michigan, Joe Staley, who would be an awesome pick in the first round. Rarely do you find an OT who is 6-5, 305, and runs a 4.75 40. In fact, I don't know if I've ever heard of a man that big with a 40 time that fast.

Staley came to C. Mich. as a 220 lb. TE with great footwork. Since then, he has added over 80 lbs. of muscle without losing any speed or foot quickness. These are the qualities needed for a LT. Right now, it seems like our LT, Flozell Adams, is more of a matidor than a football player. His footspeed is so slow, speed rushers just run past him as he waves. RT isn't much better.

If this team doesn't pull a hammy rushing to get this guy come draft time, it will become obvious to even the biggest of homers-this administration has no idea of how to build an offense. Our OL is a joke, and they need to fix it!

The guy you are describing is an exact duplicate of Gallery. came into Iowa a small TE and graduated the second coming of Walter Jones, Ogden Pace, etc. Supposedly fast and quick and mean. Well, 1 out of 3 anyway.

Maybe he'll shoot up the boards, but I don't think he'd be a first rounder today.

I like Doug Free better myself if you are looking for an athletic tackle.

6' 5", 305? Isn't that a bit light? Especially when colleges have been known to exaggerate upwards?

Trust the scouting department?? :lmao: This so-called scouting department passed on at least two OL who are starting on offensive lines that were better than ours when they drafted them. That TE we HAD TO HAVE is playing VERY sparingly for us, while the two OTs I mentioned are starting for their prospective teams-(McNeil is the starting LT for the Chargers, & Whitworth has started at RG & LT for the Bengals).

Now, what was it you were saying about our vaunted scouting department. It pertains to this season because we need to learn from our mistakes. We don't have ONE rookie who is making a clear cut name for himself. Mark Anderson ALONE has made more of an impact on his team than the entire Cowboys' 2006 draft!! Dude has 7 1/2 sacks!!

We need to fire Bill Parcells & everyone involved in his drafts next year, so our future is better than our very mediocre past!!!
