Coughlin picks Warner to start as Giants' QB

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Two-time MVP Kurt Warner beat out Eli Manning for the job of starting quarterback of the New York Giants.

Coach Tom Coughlin announced the decision Sunday, a day after indicating he would not decide until after this week's final exhibition game.

While Warner played better than the NFL's No. 1 draft pick against the New York Jets on Friday night, Coughlin had remained coy when it came to naming a starter for the regular-season opener at Philadelphia on Sept. 12.

Warner was 9-of-11 for 104 yards in making the start against the Jets (2-1). He led the Giants (1-2) on their only touchdown drive in the 17-7 loss and had another scoring chance spoiled when receiver Tim Carter fumbled inside the 10-yard line.

Manning, who played predominantly with the first-team offense, was 4-of-14 for 20 yards and two interceptions. He also lost a fumble that was returned for a Jets' touchdown.

I think that's tha right choice.Kurt Warner should be tha starter and it can only help Eli Manning to watch and learn.
