Gee, I remember Reshard Lee having some big pre-season games. I think I saw him selling flowers on Stemmons Freeway last week.

Actually he's on the Raiders roster trying to make the team.

Get over it. This guy is clearly a Lawson homer who is still upset that "his guy" didn't get drafted.

Here is the review from the San Fransico newspaper:

The 240-pound Lawson rarely got to show his talents. Playing almost exclusively from right outside linebacker and then right defensive end on passing downs, Lawson was largely stymied by 313-pound left tackle John Tait -- who has started 94 games in his career.

The guy got 2 tackles. Did nothing else.

But here we have a guy raving about him and how awesome he is.

Can you say: "agenda"? I knew you could.

This is one unfortunate bi-product of there being so much pre-draft coverage. People get so wedded to particular players that they get upset when their team doesn't pick them. They spend the rest of the years complaining about who was chosen and who wasn't.

First, I'm not on any agenda. I got over the passing on Lawson 5 min. after we drafted Carpentar. Carpentar is a better fit for our team, since he compliments Ware. We COULDN'T have Lawson on our team, because he plays the same position as Ware. Picking him would cause us to have to move Ware to the other side, since I don't think Lawson has the potential to gain enough weight to anchor the strong side. So, get over your conspiracy theories.

Second, I know his stats don't show much. But, I focused on him each and every play, and I can tell you that even though he didn't get any sacks he was good. It's similar to Ware, when he didn't make a lot/any sacks in a particular game, but he still provided constant pressure. There were several times last season where Ware was just a step from making a sack when the QB released the ball. It's the same with Lawson. The announcers only focus on players when the actually make a sack, int, or tackle. They usually don't focus on individual players, and analyze there play, unless there's some highlight. For instance, 1 of those 2 tackles you just mentioned came 20 yards down field. Lawson was in a 3-4 covering the Bears TE 10/15 yrds downfield. The TE tried to run a slant patten in the middle of the field. Lawson was right in his hip pocket the entire time, even as he slanted, so his coverage skills are good. Then, the QB throws to a WR along the sideline, and Lawson disengages the TE, and chases down the WR and makes a hard tackle. It will only show up in the stats as a tackle, but it actually a lot more. He showed great coverage skills, athletic ability, and the speed to cover well and chase down a WR that had beaten a CB. Furthermore, I don't get caught up in stats. When I want to analyze a player, I focus on his every play of the game. I don't wait for him to get a sack/tackle/int then say he's a great player. And if he doesn't get a sack/tackle/int then he had a awful game. I watch his play and give my opinion. For example, when the media was talking about Merriman's play after a game, I didn't by into it. He had gotten a couple of sacks and people were making a big deal, but I watched the game and saw how he was able to get the sacks. SD was blitzing 2 LBs simultaneously from the same side. Merriman and an ILB would blitz together from the same side and the opponent had to choose which to block. On BOTH occasions they chose to block the ILB, and let Merriman run free. As a result, Merriman got 2 un opposed sacks. In contrast to Ware how "earned" his sacks by beating his opponents (even when they game planned against him). I'm not saying Merriman isn't good, he is, I'm just saying that I believe my eyes over what some mediot says. JMO.

Finally, I'm not saying I wish we'd choose Lawson instead of Carp. I'm just saying that it would have been great to see a Lawson/Ware combo. But, I realize that in our scheme you can't have two similar players like this on both sides. Carp IS the best choice for us, and I hope he does well tonight. So, yes, I am a homer, but I'm a Cowboy homer thank you.

I think the only way we will regret picking carpenter is if Greg Ellis turns into Willie McGuinnest reicarnate and TO goes awol. Then we might wish we had protected ourselves traded down and drafted Chad Jackson and the whole Carpenter vs Lawson will be a moot point. Those are alot of ifs though and it never hurts to have some young good depth at LB.
