Cowboys RT Colombo breaks left leg vs. Packers
Associated Press

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - Cowboys starting right tackle Marc Colombo broke his left leg on Dallas' second drive of the first quarter in a 17-7 loss Sunday to Green Bay Packers.

Head coach Wade Phillips said Colombo is expected to have surgery on Monday.

Colombo was injured on the first play of the drive blocking for running back Marion Barber when Packers defensive tackle Johnny Jolly rolled up on the back of Colombo's leg. He was immediately taken for X-rays and the team announced early in the second quarter he had a broken left fibula.

Head coach Wade Phillips said afterward that Colombo had a high ankle sprain and broken fibula.

"He's not necessarily out for the season. That remains to be seen," Phillips said.

Colombo, a former first-round pick by the Bears in 2002, has been a stalwart on the Cowboys' offensive line, starting every game since 2006 - a string of 57 in a row.

"He's been a staple over there for a while now, and that's going to be very tough," Tony Romo said. "He's been playing there for a long time, he's been playing at a high level. We're going to have to all take it upon ourselves to step up and play a little bit better."

The title of this thread is a tease. Update? I was hoping for a miracle report that his leg isn't broken after all.

This absolutely sucks. When I heard he broke his leg my heart sunk. He's my favorite offensive lineman and I hate to hear this. This could make it very tough on us the rest of the year on offense.

Major Bummer.

I wonder if mcquistans brother gets signed this week.

This was the one position Dallas couldn't afford a major injury to. Once again our OL depth could be our achielles heel.

Tony is 100% right at the bottom of that update.
cept the part where he says "little better". Try A LOT better.

Can anyone update me on Brewster. Is he going be able to go this year and when does Dallas have to make a decision on when to activate him??

They all looked like they had broken legs today. They played like dog crap.

*****. We knew we had no margin for error due to depth issues, and today it finally bit us in the ***. Free's "apprenticeship" is officially over.

We can't afford any injury on the OL. Once agian, we were too busy trading all our picks away for Roy Williams to address such needs. Jerry is an idiot.

AS much as we will miss Colombo's physical skills, I think we are going to miss his leadership and fire just as much.

Agreed, a demonstrative team first guy. Hard to imagine he'll be back this year, maybe he can squeeze into TO's hyperbaric chamber.

Time to find out if Free can play or we need to draft a OT next April.

Hopefully the decisions is more along the lines of if Free can play we don't draft an OT as high or maybe just not as many. If he cant play we go OT (or Oline) in 1 and 3 and then some more later.

Laufenberg just said Surgery for marc tomorrow morning and the team thinks 6-8 weeks without him.
