Capital One Bowl.* Today, we'll look at a performance in the same game by another member of the Crimson Tide: Marcell Dareus.

Dareus is No. 7 on the MTD top 200, compiled on Sunday. I've got just under a dozen plays to look at today, and with just one negative play out of the 11, there's not much to argue against that ranking. In these plays, Dareus shows an explosive first step, elite strength and great awareness. But that's me talking. Let's go to the tape and open up the playbook, and you can make your own assessment.

Let's do it (and just to help you out, Dareus is No. 57.* I'll point out what position he's lined up at for each play.)

Interesting, but it seems like it's all highlights. It's not really a summation of his performance, just the things he did well.

That's because he absolutely dominated the opposition in that game. It was like the whole game was a highlight reel for him (well the defensive half, their offense was pretty good too).

Dareus has had good performances in bowl games throughout his career. His week to week play hasn`t been that impressive. Before the Bama/Auburn game this year , the pregame show said that he had not played as well this year due to playing all three downs. It was a problem that the Bama coaching staff was well aware of. With the 9th pick , I would like to see more than a two down player that provides a limited pass rush. The Cowboys have Spears who has the same shortcomings. I would just as soon see the Cowboys draft Nevis ( LSU ) with a pick later in the draft.

Officially, I am in LOVE.....at least with his highlights....He'll be an impact player but no way he last till 9.

Quinn, Dareus, Haywood, and Claiborn are my top 4. I'm sure 2 of the 3 will be available when we pick. As long as we get one, I'm happy. If we get Quinn, or Dareus, I'm ecstatic.

BINGO on all your points made.

Dareus had himself a nice bowl game, but I don't see any consistancy to his game. He's what I call a "Croc," in other words, he disappears for 10-15 snaps as if he's building up his energy and then explodes for a snap or two. Problem is he provides little as a pass rusher as his repitiore is limited outside of a club and bullrush. I think ultimately his best spot will be in a 4-3 as a DT. I don't think he has the bulk or strength to man the NT in a 3-4 (regardless of whichever 3-4 style you're running) and while he could play DE in a 3-4, his worth there makes you question whether he should be drafted as high as he's being projected by many.

.......you always have to be careful NOT to fall in love with guys that take snaps off. I also like Kerrigan of Purdue alot. His motor and heart are unquestioned, but his physical talent isn't as good as Dareus': but whose is in this draft?

Kerrigan is a 4-3 end. Not sure if he can play OLB naturally and he maybe too small to be 3-4 end.

He looked just as dominate as Fairley did against Oregon.

Fairley's bowl game was just the cherry on top of a great season.

There is no way anyone will last until 9. The draft ends at pick 8.

Okay he had a good game but seriously, he didn't make ONE mistake? Seeing that stuff is often more useful than seeing how amazing a guy is.
