As of today and this might change and it will change. I am torn between

OL. Hernandez / Wynn and my new pet
WR DJ Moore.

Wynn.
Davenport.
Hernandez.
Hurst.
Harold Landry is drawing my interest.

I'll take Hernandez at 19 and St. Brown in rounds 2 or 3. Hernandez looks like another Zach Martin.

Zach Martin looked much more like Isaiah Wynn than Will Hernandez too me. Henandez is bigger, more powerful but not nearly as clean as Martin was or Wynn. But maybe like Martin his work ethic and personality traits are what stand out.

Well, the work ethic and personality are what stand out most to me in Hernandez. Furthermore, if we're a run first offense, then is it not a good thing to have a very powerful guard mauling helpless defensive linemen out of the way for Zeke? Though, I'd be fine with Wynn at 19 as well. Like I said, it's a first team problem. Wynn and Hernandez are tremendous options. Either way, we'd have a monster oline with either of them.

I like both and OG is the direction I want Dallas to go in the 1st round. Actually, I think Henandez might have taken the senior bowl competition with Wynn personally. He came in a fair bit lighter and it looked like he made some ground dropping the weight and cleaning up his footwork between the senior bowl and combine. It's not a lot of time so it could all be in my head but I thought he looked a more balanced athlete than I initially gave him credit for and raised his draft value. I picked him to win the bench press contest, so no surprises there, but I did not expect him to move like he did in the drills.

Yes, and it's that fire in Hernandez that I like. I think it's that fire that he has that will help him elevate to a high level guard. It's that fire that has made Martin what he is. I think he'll take to Martin brilliantly. Plus, he and Wynn are the safe picks at 19. Considering how we play, you can't go wrong with either. I just like Hernandez a bit more.

What does it say about our offensive coaches if we need 5 first rounders to field s good OL?

Defense
We need defense

We do need defense but I'm not reaching for defense if all the top tier defenders are off the board. I would rather have a top tier offensive player over a 2nd tier defensive player.

This is a rubbish excuse
Teams rank players in tiers
There will be defensive players ranked right next to the OG on our board at 19

The blue chip defensive players will be off the board at 19. Who you taking over an elite guard?

Let's see how it falls
I have no doubt a blue chip defender will be available at 19
And how come we suddenly have 3-4 "elite " guards in this draft for the first time in the entire history of the draft?
Not buying it

By definition, a potential 1st round pick CANNOT be a "pet cat." That term refers to a low round pick or undrafted free agent who is a long-shot to make the team. It doesn't refer to blue chip prospects who are guaranteed to make the roster.

The "Pet Cat" is a Parcells-ism, a term Bill Parcells popularized in Dallas when he was the head coach for the Cowboys. The term initially referred to a prospect whom a coach, scout or owner had taken a particular liking to, often based on little more than a whim, and whom they would then try to draft, regardless of what the scouting consensus was.

Among Cowboys fans, the term usually refers to a bubble player commonly found at the bottom of the roster. Some people pick pet cats that are late-round draft picks; that is usually frowned upon as even mid- to late-round draft picks face good odds of making the roster. The purest pet cats are down-roster pet cats, usually undrafted free agents or even street free agents, and for those pet cats to simply make the practice squad is often considered a great success.

The pet cat is often - and preferably - chosen without the slightest factual or quantifiable basis, and that choice then stands in such monolithic grandeur that any criticism of the player bounces off the pet cat owner into inconsequential nothingness like little pebbles flung at Ayer's Rock.

It says they correctly took the best player available, so be it, we got two stud cb in the 2nd and third.
And lets stop pretending we spent a first on Laell Collins, he was not a "invested" draft pick and never will be. Tyron was drafted over five years ago, if the gettings good than get!
Theres 3-4 guards in this draft that are all like that one guy that deserves to go in the first we just happen to be in a great spot to get a pro bowl guard and be solid up the middle where we need to be

Doesn't work that way
You have to spread your resources (draft and cap) around
Already paying smith and Fred
Have to pay Martin this year
Collins will need to be paid soon
Zeke and Dak will need to be paid

We need to learn to build a team not an OL or just an offense
