1 C.J. Mosley, ISLB, 6'2" #235 Ala

Mosley can play the Will LB spot and replace Bruce Carter who has been a disappointment there. Mosley can also kick inside for the talented and oft injured Sean Lee.

They need help in the secondary, but they would be overdrafting if they took a CB or FS here. The best defensive player available is Mosley, and it is a great value

2 Scott Crichton, DE, 6-3 #273 Oregon State

3 Terrence Brooks, FS, 5-11 #200 Florida State

4 Caraun Reid, DT, 6-2 #305 Princeton

5 Kevin Norwood, WR, 6-2 #200 Alabama

7 Trai Turner, OG, 6-3 #320 LSU
Wesley Johnson, OG/C/OT, 6-5 #295 Vanderbilt

7 Jay Bromley, DE/DT , 6-3, #310 Syracuse

7 Storm Johnson, RB, 6 #220 UFC
Tyler Starr, OLB, 6-4 #250 South Dakota

Tyler Hoover, DT/DE, 6-6 #290 Michigan State
Alfred Blue, RB, 6-2 #233 LSU

I like all of the picks except #1. Mosley is a decent player, but there will be other really good players available at that pick. I'm not a big fan of drafting a 4-3 LB in the mid 1st.

I can't figure out why Trai Turner is rated so low. I think he could be a starter by next season.

Norwood ran faster than I expected. He has good size and good/big hands. He would probably be a 3rd rounder in other years.

Brooks seems to be as good if not better in coverage than the top 2 Safeties.

I'm a bigger fan of Crichton than some other fans/media. He would be a solid 2nd rounder; although, I'm starting to see some projections of him going in the 1st.

I need to watch some more of Storm Johnson. My pet cat RB for a late round pick is Isaiah Crowell. He had some off field issues, but they seem minor. The charges were dropped on the issue that got him kicked out of Georgia.

Tyler Starr looks good in game footage and had an excellent 3-cone; however, his forty and ten yards times were terrible. It will be interesting to see if he runs significantly better at his Pro Day.

Not a fan of this mock other than the Caraun Reid and Trai Turner picks.

Sorry but I don't know these guys. Sean Lee should retire and become the linebacker coach for the Cowboys.

Isaiah Crowell, RB - Crowell has some durability concerns, but his character and off-field decision-making are the big questions with his draft stock and something that will be thoroughly investigated by NFL teams. Crowell failed a drug test while at Georgia and was charged with two felony counts of possession of a firearm. Further, he hasn't shown ideal toughness, struggling to play through relatively minor leg injuries throughout his collegiate career

I will guarantee Baltimore will be happy to take CJ and probably make him a ALL PRO LB

C.J. Mosley is a good all-around player and would be a great fit as a WLB in a 4-3. He has great pass coverage skills (zone and man) for a LB and he is a good blitzer, so he’s valuable in nickel packages. If anyone compares him to draft bust Aaron Curry (4th overall, Seahawks, 2009), do not fear; Mosley is much better in coverage and more fluid than Curry was. If you’re wondering why I bring up Curry, it’s because Curry was thought of by some as one of the safest picks in the 2009 draft. Mosley is also thought of as a safe prospect by some because he’s a good all-around player and was productive at a high level of competition.

Taking positional value into account, I don’t think Mosley is quite the top 10 prospect that some make him out to be. I’d like to see more INTs (Mosley doesn’t have great hands) and more FFs before classifying a traditional LB as a top 10 prospect. Nevertheless, Mosley is solid and would be able to supplant Bruce Carter as the starting WLB and play alongside Sean Lee in the nickel. Mosley could also move to MLB if Lee gets injured.

2013: 108 tackles, 9 TFL, 5 PD, 9 QBH, 1 FF
2012: 107 tackles, 8 TFL, 4 sacks, 2 INT, 2 PD, 3 QBH, 1 FF, 1 FR
2011: 36 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 2 sacks, 1 INT, 2 PD
2010: 67 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 0.5 sacks, 2 INT, 10 PD, 2 QBH

Positives: Good all-around player; Pass coverage; Instincts

gosh he should but spends to much time on the bench INJURY - don't thing he's the ALL PRO MLB

Ealy - Donald - an Hagerman are not good picks IMO at 16

they only other guys I would look at would be OL but I don't think Jerry sees it that way

I would say Kevin Norwood was seen as possession receiver for the better part of his career. He went down to the Reese's Senior Bowl and ended up being the South's Most Outstanding Player in the game and then carried that momentum into the Combine and runs sub-4.5. I think he absolutely helped himself through this pre-Draft evaluation period. I think he'll probably still be a mid-to-late round draft choice but I think he definitely answered some questions that people had on him, so I thought the Combine was a good experience for him

I understand folks questioning if Ealy and Hageman aren't worth this pick. However, I'm just not understanding those that think Donald is not worth the 16th pick. He's a BEAST with a PROVEN track record of production. Even the great Geno Atkins (and, he's an absolute stud) wasn't as productive in college as Donald. The ONLY negative with him is his size. This kid could easily gain 10 pounds and retain his unbelievable quickness. He's the perfect 3T for this D.

ok I still think he will be eaten up in the pros - IMO - you JUST don't spend a 1st rounder on the kid

don't like mosley in the first at all. how do we know he would be an upgrade over carter. carter struggled mightily making the transition from 3-4 ILB to 4-3 OLB... guess what mosley would have to do...... transition from 3-4 to 4-3. I want as close to a sure thing as I can at 16 and mosley isn't it

thanks for your support - but if he's there at 16 I run to the podium

Moseley college stats

2013: 108 tackles, 9 TFL, 5 PD, 9 QBH, 1 FF
2012: 107 tackles, 8 TFL, 4 sacks, 2 INT, 2 PD, 3 QBH, 1 FF, 1 FR

Carters Stats

As a junior in 2009, Carter has 48 tackles, a sack, and an interception.
Senior season 57 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble

I don't think the potential upgrade from Carter to Mosely is anywhere near the value of the 16th pick. I'm clearly not as down on Carter as you are, but I would take take Martin over Mosely all day if that was the choice. I do really like the rest of the draft.

yes so would I - I would do like the 49mers did an use high draft picks on the O line for 2 or 3 years

but I think Jerry is ok with our O line

I am not down on Carter but we all saw how he is in coverage not so good

but CJ

STRENGTHS: Mosley does a nice job using his length and lower body fluidity to keep himself clean through a crowd and finishes at the ball, wrapping and driving through his target. He is very smart and keeps his eyes on the ball to track and attack and rarely makes mental mistakes, which is a result of his high football IQ and preparation skills.

His 107 tackles in 2012 were the second-highest total by an Alabama linebacker in the past 25 years (DeMeco Ryans had 126 in 2003) and 48 more than the next Tide defender last season (fellow inside linebacker Trey DePriest). Mosley also recorded eight tackles for loss, four sacks and two interceptions.

Tough and athletic, with the keenest instincts of any linebacker I've scouted since Lofa Tatupu, Mosley is constantly around the ball and is often making big plays as a result

From CBS draft page

how can you pass on a guy like that - sorry I could not

I am sure Baltimore would love it run the card up there

I like both the Caraun Reid and Trai Turner picks. I think drafting a safety in this draft is a waste of a pick unless Pryor falls into round 2 for some reason.

My guess is he won't, and he'll go Top 15.

Donald is a beast for about three defenses in this draft, Tenn, Pitt, and NE if we can trade around these guys it gives us a free pick in the 2nd/3rd IMO.

Donald in Pittsburgh's 3-4?
