we have been competitive but could never close the deal; but that was Big Game Loser Kelly more than anything else.
when have we been competitive ? and define your defintition of competitivness.

Not getting blown out and keeping it to within two TDs has happened before. Look up Kelly's record. He does that a lot; this year was proof of it again. He did rebuild ND to the point where it was indeed competitive with the best. WE battle Clemson with Lawrence and company very hard and they were battling Alabama and GA head to head. I doubt you are a Notre Dame fan if you do not remember the times we did get close but could never really close the deal like I said.

Looks like a good young coach.

Doubt we'll be interested.

Any consideration for the 38 year old head Coach for Notre Dame ?

The Irish has been dominant in the college playoffs and he would be thinking outside of the box.
I already said option D the other day!

He just signed a large extension that likely has a massive buyout.

Jerry has already shown he's cheap as hell with coaches so there is no way he'd consider buying out ND.

I mean it's a non-starter anyway but the finances make it even less likely.

If his contract has a massive buyout, his agent should be fired tomorrow. No top level college football coach has a big buyout on the coach's side. On the school's side? Yes. Dudes with all that leverage make sure that the door swings one way. As an example, James Franklin's buyout is $2M if he wants to leave. Kirby Smart's is $5M, as is Ryan Day's I believe. Sark's is $6M now in 2025 and drops pretty quickly going forward.

With all that said, I full expect Jerry to hire the most affordable option. He'd rather spend his cash on some new artwork for the yacht.

He already earns twice as much as McCarthy. Jerry would have to pay him more than he makes now to get him to leave Notre Dame. Do you believe Jerry Jones would pay that much for a head coach? Particularly one that has never been a head coach in the NFL. The Notre Dame head football coach is a far more desirable job than head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Where do these crazy notions come from?
