Any ASU fans? Been reading up on their pro day and he seemed to have really impressed everyone in attendance. Not knowing anything about him, I looked at some highlight films and he seemed pretty athletic and nimble for a big guy. Here's a blurb about his pro day:

Marcus Hardison, who did not participate at the Combine because of an injury, stood out and was a star at Arizona State's pro day. Hardison measured 6-3 1/4, 305 pounds, then ran his 40s in times of 4.92 and 4.95, though some watches had him in the 4.8s. His 10 split was in the 1.70 range. Hardison's short shuttle timed at 4.68 with a 7.29 three-cone.

Hardison looked terrific in line drills, which was run by the Minnesota Vikings, as scouts commented on his exceptional quick twitch muscles. Coaches in attendance remarked that had he been able to run at the Combine, Hardison would've ranked as one of the top overall performers on the defensive line. Yesterday, Hardison met privately with the Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers.

Anyone have any idea where he's projected to go? Mid rounds, but climbing?

Not sure about his projected round but I'm a fan. Was stuck behind sutton and Coleman and really came on this year when given the chance. Juco 1st 2 yrs.

Yes
Almost wish the draft was earlier and he didn't have a pro day....and we somehow got him in the late rounds .
Not happening now

He's a little raw as a DT because he was a DE in Juco, but his athleticism and size are definitely intriguing. He's a pure 3 tech who fires off of the ball, didn't see much anchoring and holding his ground from what I watched. So not one of the more complete DT's in the draft, but if we are going for a puss rush 1st DT he's definitely a good guy to look at.

If we want him it's probably the 3rd. Doubt he makes it very far into the 4th.

Didn't he play end at ASU? He does seem to project as a 3 tech at the next level, but I think Marinelli may be able to move him around the line some. A 3rd seems about right. Pick up a decent end in FA along with this kid in the 3rd and go bpa in rds 1 and 2.

Yeah he played a decent amount of DE as well as DT at ASU. I think in reality his best fit might be as 5 tech in a 3-4, but you're right, Marinelli could certainly figure out how to utilize a big athletic guy like Hardison.

I think free agency will determine what kind of DT we draft, if any. Marinelli loves to mix and match guys and we already have Brent, Bishop, Coleman, and Okye in the mix at DT behind Crawford and McClain

Scouts Inc: #85
NFLDS: #101

He has terrific physical ability and can bend around the corners with quickness that some much smaller players can't. If you watch is highlight footage you would think he should be rated much higher; however, in watching complete games something seems to be missing. He does not dominate like you would expect with his physical ability. He appears to be going about 90% most of the time.

Intriguing player for the later rounds. Marinelli does so much with defensive linemen that you tend to think he would make something out of this guys good physical tools. His on the field play hasn't been outstanding though.

Love this kid. I saw quickness and bending the edge. Two of the most important tools for pass rush. Kid belongs at DE in my book.

MARCUS HARDISON
Hardison likely did the most to boost his draft stock on Friday. He put in a 25.5-inch vertical jump and an 8-foot-11 broad jump, per NFL.com.

Where he excelled: For weighing in at 305 pounds, Hardison looked both fast in the 40-yard dash -- clocked between 4.80 and 4.90 seconds -- and agile in drills. "I think I kind of had personal records out here today," Hardison said. "I'm over here complaining to one of the scouts. He's trying to play me said I ran a 4.92, I said, man, that's a 4.8."

What's his stock looking like: Hardison could be solidifying a place as a middle-round pick. His versatility along the defensive line should pay dividends, but he said his stock took off in the Senior Bowl, when scouts liked him playing the 3-technique, the quicker defensive tackle in a four-man front. "I don't really pay attention to it, to be honest with you," Hardison said. "It only takes one team to like you. I'll be honored if I get drafted."

Arizona State DL Marcus Hardison "looked terrific in line drills" at the school's pro day, according to TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline.
Hardison, of course, didn't participate at the combine due to injury. He posted forty runs in the late 4.8 to early 4.9 range, depending on the watch consulted, with a 1.70 range 10-yard split. Measuring 6-foot-3 1/4, 305 pounds, Hardison added a 4.65 second short shuttle and a 7.29 second three-cone. "Scouts commented on his exceptional quick twitch muscles," Pauline added. "Coaches in attendance remarked that had he been able to run at the Combine, Hardison would've ranked as one of the top overall performers on the defensive line. Yesterday, Hardison met privately with the Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers." Mar 7 - 10:45 PM

he's cheaper version of Preston Smith IMO, but has better pass-rushing skills. Hardison has a quick first step plus, combined with his size, he could be a real disruptive, penetrating DT. He can also play adequately as a DE. I suspect however, that a 3-4 team is going to grab him to play DE earlier than originally projected. I really wanted him as a later round pick because of his quickness and ability to play multiple positions in a pinch along the DL. I'm afraid that he's gone during round 4 now, was projecting to the 5th or even later before the pro day

I have no problem taking him in the 4th.

With a good showing at the senior bowl, a very good pro day and pretty good tape, I think his stock continues to rise. It wouldn't shock me if he goes in the 2nd. It's not everyday that you find a big guy so light on his feet.

I agree, second might be a little rich for me. It only takes one team though.

I like this guy a lot. They have an interview with him in Lindy's draft mag, and he seems to be smart and honest

I'm with you, really don't understand the mid round grades on him, to me he's a third rounder easily in this draft and probably a better prospect than a guy like Gabe Wright or Preston Smith.
