I love watching this guy play. He's a fantastic dual threat QB.

Even though he is considered that, whenever he scrambles he keeps his eyes downfield. The only time you see him take off running is by blanket coverage or play design.

I think he's going to be a really good QB in the NFL.

Wouldn't mind seeing him with a Star on his helmet this time next year.

If he is there when they draft, absolutely. I dont want any trade up though. You have to draft franchise QBs when the opportunity presents itself unless you already have a young one, and maybe even then if it can be flipped for a huge reward.

I like him as well. He has areas to improve in but he has all the tools IMO.

Does anyone know if he has true 4.4 speed that has been reported? He's had a few nice runs today.

I'd love to have him in Dallas. If Dallas goes 1-4 to start the season, I say tank for mariota.

Yea he does. Legit 4.4 speed timed on multiple occasions.

Love him, especially if we were to hire a Gus Malzahn to be head coach.

It wouldn't make much sense to draft Mariota and then restrict him to being solely a drop back passer.

Very true but I believe you have to Taylor the offense to the players strengths yet protect them. For example.. rg3 had a pretty darn good rookie year and the offense was Taylor made for his skill set, but at the same time he took some big risks especially when running the ball. Also I believe 100% that Mike shannahan and his son did not do enough to protect him from his self. They called a few too many read options for my tastes.

Getting back to mariota, the kid can play and is a very good qb in a system filled with talent. Obviously there is a learning curve when going to the next level but I think he has the tool to be a good nfl qb. Pair him with a creative, innovative and smart coordinator and head coach along with a good oline and he will be just fine.

Oregon QBs scare me as they have not done much in the NFL over the last many years even when they are taken in high spots of the draft.

Not fair to say he will be a bust because of the team he plays for but at some point you have to look at that and wonder if the system is to blame.

Akili Smith
Joey Harrington
Dennis Dixon
Kellen Clemons
AJ Feeley

Not exactly a list of QBs that have lit it up in the NFL.

I agree that list is ugly. I didn't like any of those QBs. Mariota is the only one I've liked so far. That doesn't mean he will be great but I like him enough to let him be the QB of my team.

It's always scary with new QBs but we need one for the future. Still a lot of games to play and "scout."

Well, they pretty much ran Shannahan out of town for trying to protect him from himself. It's tough when the fan base, the players and management doesn't support you in your decisions.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens there. Cousins was who Shannahan wanted. RG3 was he pick of the Owner.

I too didn't like any of those QBs, but Mariota looks different. He still may not pan out in the NFL, but I was 100% positive those other guys weren't worth 1st round picks from just watching them in college.

He has a fantastic skillset. He is as complete a dual threat QB as I've seen.

I cannot be an Oregon fan. They let me down when they lost to Auburn for the national glass football.

Argh! I still haven't forgiven them.

Kind of troubling the way Stanford normally shuts him down.

I didn't. I saw him play a lot of games for the Ducks. Good college player. I didn't see anything he did that translated well to the NFL to be worth a high 1st round pick. Maybe if a team could have drafted him a little later and let him develop, but not as a first rounder.

I don't think he'll be good, unless he lands in the right team/OC.
