I re-watched the game last night to check out things that we as fans possibly missed about the game, and 2 defenders stood out. Roy Williams and Marcus Spears.

Spears stood up his guy the entire game, and made several plays that made me think that this guy could possibly be a stud on the line.

I remember him standing up the blocker twice, and then getting lose from the defender to make the play at the LOS. Those are the type of plays you don't pay much attention to, but that stood out to me, did anyone else notice that?

RW blanketed the TE all game long while he was in the game. Several times the QB had to throw the ball away due to the TE being blanketed all over the field, and I think the TE he was covering has blazing speed.

But you will never here anything about that unless someone finally gets away from him for a score, and then all of sudden, he can't cover. He can't win!

To be fair though, Davis was well covered the entire game, by everyone. Even on his TD, the DB (Elam, I think) was right there with him. It's nice that Roy did a good job covering him, but nothing to brag about.

I'll be really impressed when Roy blankets Shockey. He's the guy that always seems to get away from us.

I noticed Spears' play as well. I think he feels as healthy as he has since he's been a pro. That has to translate to better play from him.

He definitely is sound against the run..I wonder if he will be a factor on Nickle DT pass rushing...

I hate to burst your bubble, but if you look at the Henry INT, Davis is running down the middle of the field with Bradie trailing him by 10 yards. The SF announcers were livid that Alex Smith threw to AB instead of seeing Davis running free. Davis just ran a seam route straight up the field, and before Bradie could even turn his hips to run with Davis, Davis was already 10 yards past him and pulling away. If Smith would have seen him, it would have been an easy TD, since I didn't see anyone in the middle of the field covering Davis on top. IMO, it must have been a blown coverage, because no way do you match up Bradie one-on-one with Davis.

you misunderstand...why would i get excited if he doesnt blow a coverage? i get as excited as anbody when someone makes a play, but a guy being in position is fundamental, and should be expected.

The point on RW is, most people tend to think he can't cover. I am one of the few who actually thinks his coverage is good. (NOT GREAT) Just tired of him being called overrated when he misses an assignment, when Troy P. from Spitsburgh does something wrong, we hear nothing of it.

agreed.. and not just cause you made that sweet sig pic down below..

anyways, that is the one thing i am most sick of- hearing that Roy is overrated or stinks in coverage.. i actually think he is good too.. and Troy Polomalu, Ed Reed, Brian Dawkins, Sean Taylor, all those guys get burned a lot but you dont hear anything at all about it.. its ridiculous.. but yes, Polomalu is the worst.. people are talking about him like crazy, and honestly, he misses tackles and blows coverages a lot..
