What should or is to be done about Marcus Spears? On the one hand, he has never really turned out to be the dominant player that some hoped he might be. On the other, he has been a solid role player for the team for several years, and since he has been more or less under the radar since he was drafted, he might not be looking for a bank-breaking deal.

Personally, I hope they lock him up to an Igor-like deal and keep him. Of course, I don't think anyone would be too upset with that outcome, but what does everybody think will happen to the "other guy drafted in the 05 first round".

In Hostile's thread I mentioned a 2nd round tender because I don't think many teams would want to spend a 2nd and enough money that we wouldn't match.

I think he should get a first round tender and receive his $2.62M guarantee.

His most productive years should be the next four seasons. I think he compares with Igor in team production and expectations. He should be at least given another year with the Cowboys.

We need someone to break out a stat that says Spears is a much better player than his stats!

If a team in the top half of the second round want him they can have him.

I'm with you on this one.

1st Round tender -- I doubt a team bites, if they do. Draft his replacement.

Even if no team wants to pony up a first, we should draft someone to groom in his place.

He was already a first round pick, save some money and give him the original tender.

first round tender is what, 2.5 mill? that is certainly a freaking bargain for a starting quality 3-4 DE.

Folks need to realize that we are going to tender everyone pretty high. Hell, last year we went 2nd round tenders on Austin, Bowen, Hurd, and Proctor. To me, the Austin and Bowen tenders were no brainers but Hurd and Proctor?

We like to keep our guys. Plain and simple.

Those guys were FAs so they had to tender then 2nd round picks to keep them. The lowest tender would let them walk with only a right to match.
