Marcus Trufant to be released -- could be a cheaper option than Carr or Finnegan if we get outbid. Anyone see him recently? I know he's on the back end but he could be a short term option

I remember like it was just yesterday when the debate was "Who's better: Terence Newman or Marcus Trufant?"

Yep. And they're still pretty much the same player. No thanks!

Chronic back problems scare me from putting any real investment in a guy like that, but if he were interested in battling it out in training camp on a non-guaranteed contract for the veterans minimum I'd be fine with it. I actually hope that's how they fill out the other starting safety position this year as well. Patriots had some decent success in bringing in 20 defensive lineman to camp this year and seeing what stuck at the end of it.

I doubt he would want to take over for Ball at a cheap price.

Carr is a much better player and younger . You get what you pay for

Not another seahawks reject please

What other Seahawks reject do we have on the roster?

Not a single player on offense or defense?

Unless you mean Hamlin who hasn't played with us in years? Am I missing someone?

Main issue I would have with Trufant is he would be a short term fix. My hope is Dallas is looking longer term player. I think he is decent as a player but I would hope for better.

Your right. Ken Hamlin. Hasn't played for years but we still signed him to a stupid contract extension

I don't think he would be a much better option than Newman at this point. Both have been banged up. Newman is due 8million, Trufant was due 7 million. Barring him taking a small contract like (1.5-2 million) which I doubt he would take, I don't see him coming here.

I doubt Newman or Trufant are Cowboys. Both will look to catch on to a team where they get a decent pay day and can play a lot.

I agree. Only way I would get him is a low end deal and as a role player not one of my starting CB

He is definitely better then Alan Ball and Frank walker. I'd take him if he doesn't want a huge deal.

I'd cut Newman and let him shop and consider bringing him back for the same type of money 1.5-2 million as well to be my 4th CB.

Trufant has only had 5 ints in the last 4 years combined. So he isn't a ballhawk but he is a solid veteran presence.

Give me Brandon Carr or give me nothing.

I could see a 2 year 10 million dollar deal with Trufant, Sign a Grubbs/Nicks and then Draft G/C in the first, a corner in the 2nd round to study under Trufant, and pass rush/dt/de in the 3rd.

Pretty manageable, lets us make a big move for the O-line, solidifies the secondary and we'd be pretty flexible next year

Also I apologize for the "X player is being released -- Cowboys?" thread but i couldn't help myself

If we pay trufant 5 million a year I will lose my mind. He will be our 4th cb. We will either sign a cb or draft one to go along with Jenkins and scandrick.

Trufant is not worth 5 mill a year... and the market knows it. If we could get him under 2 mill per year... he could be a #2 equal to Newman of last year. He would be no worse if healthy. Likely better.

Scandrick remains #3 and we have a first round DE/OLB added to the mix. Trufant and 1st Rd draft pick DE/OLB would cost less than Newman's salary last year.

Defense is UPGRADED with a low free agency expense.
