That is a great list. You should post that info in the History Zone.

Right. You are delusional if you want to compare Tom Landry to Wade Phillips.

You're real good with the ad hominem attacks . Too bad they're not a valid debate tactic.

So what differentiates Tom Landry in 1970 vs Wade Phillips in 2009?

Landry was 46 years old and built a good team from scratch.

Phillips is 62, and been fired multiple times.

1970 Teams previous 3 years record: 23-4-1

2009 Teams previous 2 years record -22-10

The 1970s team and the teams leading up to it did not fall apart at the last four games of the seasons.

The 1970s team had won a playoff game in the last decade.

The 1970s team (and the years before is what I am talking about here) did not get made to look like little girls at the end of the season.

Landry was in his mid to late 40s, Wade is in his 60s and acts every bit of it.

Playoff format was completely different back in those days so claiming the only have one playoff win is apples to oranges. One playoff win in back then is more meaningful than now, because there were fewer playoff games.

And perhaps the most telling point, which I have no doubt you will argue with but is true none the less:
The 1970s team was young, in-experienced, and had only been in the league a little while. It was being built up, improving yearly. This team is regressing, has been since late 2007, under the watchful eye of Phillips, and others. Its full of football dumb, undisciplined players and that reflects directly on the coach just as much as on the players.

If you want to go ahead and live in fantasy world and be a delusional homer and make these ridiculous innuendos that people are acting dumb for calling for Wade to be fired, then go for it. You look ridiculous though (Wade does not belong in the same sentence as Landry) even if you do get nominated for a POD. Please, Please hold your breath waiting for the Super Bowl at the end of this season.

Well I was going to nominate one of mine, but thats such a hard decision since I have so many great ones, and such a hard standard for tomorrow's post of the day pick to live up to.

Im sure we can do better than a Wade Phillips = Tom Landry and a 1970s team = 2009 Team though.

Yet who could say that in 1970 that Landry would accomplish what he did?

My point is not that Wade will magically turn into a20 consecutive winning season head coach at 62, but that a lack of success in the postseason, the historical trends if you will does not necessarily entail futility in the future.

Those who have it all figured out would have declared this team dead in the water after getting blown out in the Cotton Bowl vs St. Louis.

And they'd have been dead wrong.

You must misunderstand the meaning of the word equal, because nowhere did I say the 1970 Cowboys= the 2009 Cowboys.

Oh and while the Cowboys may not have been made to look like "little girls" at the end of the year, (although I'm not sure what you would call the playoff losses to Cleveland) what would you call 54-13 and 38-0?

Try websters or dictionary.com
Just one would suffice, but it's understandable why it may be difficult for you to settle on just one.

Well, I knew you had access to the internet so I thought I would just through that in there, I did not know if Louisianans had dictionaries or not.

Why does it matter when it occurs?

Tell me this board would not have been on suicide watch had the Internet existed then.
