I'm not so confident that Marinelli leaves. Maybe the only reason why Smith hired Frazier is because Marinelli was under contract for another year, but I even doubt that Frazier is fired after just one year. You have a new team, and it's obviously not Leslie Frazier's fault that defense stinks. So does the offense.

But let's say that he is fired, and they take Marinelli from us. I think we go out and get Frazier. He has produced some legit Tampa 2 defenses.

I hope we make every effort to keep Marinelli, but let's not pretend like he can't be replaced.

obviously I don't want Marinelli to leave, but after Jerry fired Rob Ryan, Leslie Frazier was the guy I wanted most for DC

also, keeping an eye on what happens in Cincinatti with Marvin Lewis.. that man can coach some defense as well

I don't see Marinelli leaving for a different DC gig, and I don't know that he has aspirations to try being a HC again. Lovie isn't going to fire Frazier - you certainly can't point to the Defense as the reason Tampa Bay is so lousy. That team has problems top to bottom - I could see that whole coaching staff getting axed after one year before I could see Frazier alone getting fired.

I think Marinelli is with Dallas next year.

Marinelli may be loyal to Lovie but he's also loyal to these players. I don't think he would leave and who's going to write a bigger check than Jerry?

Plus, his wife and family might be content in Dallas. Why uproot the wife if you don't have to?

I Say Jerry open up the check book. Look what he's doing with this band of misfits.

We showed a lot of love in keeping Monte around. If we want Rod back he'll be back.

My intuition says that Marinelli will stay. His footprint is all over this defense. He brought players that he knows that here i.e. Melton and McClain and the entire organization seems to respect him. Otherwise, they would not have traded for Lawrence.

I also think he's on the right page with Garrett. Marinelli's defense reminds me of the defenses we had in the 90s. Philosophies are very similar and our players are playing that way as well.

I believe Marinelli will play an even bigger part of defense in the coming years in Dallas. Stephen Jones has mentioned they're going to focus on defense now that offense is clicking.

I am certainly positive Jerry will write him a big check and will be given the keys to the entire defense when this season is over. I don't think Marinelli will jump ship because he really has something good going here and he's not about to let that slip away.

I hope you are right. I too see many similarities to our 90's defenses. Everyone is flying to the football. I think the 4 -3 is the far superior scheme and there is a ton of tradition with this scheme in Cowboys history. I never understood a 3 - 4 scheme where one of the best pass rushers has to drop into coverage?????? I really hope Marinelli is hear for a LONG time.

This is a huge worry of mine especially after Ro McClain said he doesn't want to talk extension until he sees the coaching staff resigned. Those are my two favorite guys on the defensive side of the ball

Don't think he leaves he's got a process going on and that year 2 can be just much better.

Well you and me both - HOPE. But i'm going by intuition here. Kiffen is still with the Cowboys and as long as he's here I don't think Marinelli is going to leave. He's the major factor that brought him here and I believe he will stay because he is loyal to Kiffen more than anyone else.

I think him saying that publicly actually helps with keeping Marinelli grounded here and gives him leverage for Jerry to open his wallet to make sure he doesn't go elsewhere.

I don't think Marinelli's leaving. People talk about his loyalty to Lovie. You don't think he's developing some loyalty to this squad and coaching staff here in Dallas?

It's not like Rod took over an established 4-3 defense here. He's in the process of building something. I can't see a guy with his mentality just up and leaving the situation in Dallas. I imagine he wants to see this thing through.

No thanks, Marvin Lewis is a toolbag.

And Frazier isn't going anywhere.

I would say that it's highly unlikely that Frazier would be fired after 1 year.

Rod didn't want to be DC here. He just wanted to coach DL. Him going to Tampa wouldn't necessarily mean Frazier goes.

But like Cowboys1981 wrote, I think the issue of Lovie maybe not working out in Tampa will have a large consideration. I doubt he'd want to go there and then have to find a new gig a year later. His interest in leaving here was back when it looked like the Garrett era was coming to an end.

It's all speculation and wishful thinking at this point. Let's just enjoy the season and worry about the rest of it later.
