Mario Williams might be released

If he is this should be our guy. He is 31, but one year removed from 14.5 sacks. This is the type of vet I covet, along with a savvy DB.

There is also the chance he goes to Philly to reunite with Scwartz.

I would rather bring back Hardy for around the same price.

I always question Williams motor.

Both have questions and signing either would involve a risk. I'd go with the guy that gives the defense a better chance to improve.

He absolutely will be released. I've spent a lot of time in Buffalo this past year and he completely quit on the team. I don't think his heart is in it anymore.

I also am with you on Hardy. I've flip-flopped on him but after watching Denver's defense I'm inclined to think we should try and resign him. While he wasn't as productive as we thought he would be he's still formidable.

And Hardy hadn't played in a long time.

We've already took on the worst of the PR that signing Hardy will bring. I would hate for us to take that hit and then let him go to some other team where he is forgotten about.

Me too. I've never been impressed with MW. And at this point, we might as well just roll with Hardy. Heck, we've taken the storm associated with him, might as well reap the benefits. I mean, it can get any worse (assuming he doesn't get into any off-field trouble. Even then, you can always cut him and be done with him).

Please Catch. Hardy is half the pass rusher that Mario is. And not troubled. Mario has had 43 sacks the past 4 years with a downer of 5 last year in the 34. That's 3 more than Hardy has for his career!

I had been telling people this. People were deceived by the performance against the Patriots. Hardy was pure adrenaline in that game. But the layoff caught up with him, IMO.

The NFL season isn't just one game, and your body has to be conditioned for it. I don't think Hardy's was. Give him another season. Give him some help, and he will be back to his dominant self, IMO.

And you and I are thinking alike with respect to the PR angle. We've already taken the worst. Assuming Hardy keeps his nose clean, it's going to look "petty" (sorry, lacking a better word) if the press continues to pound the domestic abuse narrative with Hardy, particularly since his case was dismissed.

Mario Williams is as talented as it gets. Again I just question his motor and he's getting older.

Hardy is still a young guy and he can play anywhere on the DL.

I don't want some other team to benefit from Greg Hardy and not receive the PR hit that we did and you know that is going to happen. The hard part is over.

What I don't know is if he is just a complete headache for his teammates and coaches.

Then why is Buffalo letting him go?

No to Mario Williams. Saw his act close up in Houston. The guy is moody....in a way where he can disappear for games and look disinterested with no heart and then he will have two 3 sack games in a row only to shut down again. Doesn't take criticism well. Just a fuss with talent that appears here and there. People were amazed at his sack totals some years but I swear half of them were guys who fell down and he jumped on them after the fact. Flyer for a small price but not as a top FA.

I love Hardy, but IMO I think he should play the 3 Tech spot. In fact I wouldn't be opposed to signing them both!

I just want 2 years from Mario and see ya. He would thrive under Marinelli.

Greg Hardy turns 28 in july , he was layed off for a year basically , they guy still managed to put up 6 sacks in 12 games . and like catch17 said we have already taken over the worst of the PR. Not to mention hes not going to get the contract he wants and he knows that. He wants to stay here. Mario Williams doesn't have the passion Hardy has and is going on 34. if we are going to bring back someone at that age it might as well be Ware if he is released.

That's not the point. If Hardy was a choir boy we would be resigning him. I don't care about what he's done. But if he's out when need a player. And Ware coming back is a terrible idea. He fits the 34 and Mario fits the 43.

I would be on board for either one who would come in on a 1 year incentive laden deal that protects us
if he quits on the team. If both get big deals from other teams, I say cut bait and move on to the next
candidate hopefully in the draft.

PR part is over, I agree, but how about his behavior as a teammate? Showing up late to meetings...., being an internal distraction. Again, I'm only mentioning what has been reported. Personally, if he was a model teammate, then this signing would be an easy decision. I don't want him on this team if he is going to be a distraction. We don't need that for 2016....

Meh, Williams is on the wrong side of 30 and on the decline. Rather spend the money elsewhere.

Mario is a great player. But his motor sucks. His teammates were calling him out all year
