What is it the Cowboys are seeing that makes them believe he should start? I'm not even sure he is the 2nd best back on the team any more. Now that does not mean he does not have his roll but I'm failing to recognize what is keeping him in the top 2 rotation.

Granted, right now he might be out best pass blocking back despite a horrible whiff in today's game on the first series and with the OL problems they dont trust Jones and Choice but I cant see this lasting all season.

A big contract.

Well it could be that romo and jones can't get on the same page to do a simple sweep pitch....tonight choice looked like the only rb playing hard...they are scared to get hurt or something.

Barber was never starting material in the first place. But whateva...

you know...i am in agreement with you. This is how I see RB in terms of production/ability at this stage:

1) Jones - great speed to outside and willing to run between tackles.
2) Choice - looks faster this year, tough runner.
3) Barber - no burst to outside and doesnt run with power anymore.

surely they must see this in practice, there is a definite decline.

Looks like he's running in mud out there.

Everytime he tries to go outside I'm thinking what's the point?

This is not the same Barber we saw in 2007.

there were 7 guys on the line of scrimmage all night, just like the oakland game.

we have hardly even tried to run the ball on top of that, we have barely had the ball the last two weeks!

Jerry Jones will not sacrifice W's because of the money he is paying Barber & Roy ,, in the end Felix & Dez will be starting.. We need their speed and playmaking ability.. that is the only way our offense will be playoff or SuperBowel caliber

Barber looks so low out there it’s painful to watch. I think Choice has been the best back by far during the preseason.

I don't get it either. I love Marion's heart, but I think starting Felix or even Choice would give us a better chance to win. Hopefully him starting in the preseason is just another attempt to fool the rest of the league and start Felix in the regular season.

LOL. How did anyone watch this preseason game and come away ONLY thinking Barber was a problem? Felix was worse. He was terrible. Choice didn't a shot. These guys go by what they see in practice and determine who should start. I'm ASSUMING Barber is great at practice. I do know though I haven't seen him and Romo not be on the same page to where a turnover is forced. I don't think the running backs are the problem. There simply wasn't any holes out there and for the life of me I have no idea why th ey have Barber running on tosses towards the outside. Felix can barely get those runs off. Barber? He doesn't stand a chance.

He hasn't been good but it's not all his fault. The OL hasn't blocked worth a crap.

As opposed to Felix' eye popping 3 carries for 6 yards (when he actually remembered what play he was supposed to run).

It would help if overrated old man Houck could get his unit ready to play.

He should be. He's playing 2nd and 3rd teamers.

The one trait Bill Parcells 1st noted about Barber was how quick his burst to and through the hole was. Like someone else mentioned earlier, he stutter steps once he's handed the football almost every, single time now, and it slows his momentum down. That really hurts him because his burst is his one outstanding trait, and he doesn't have a 2nd gear. It used to be his stiff arm, but defenders have learned to never tackle Barber up high, so that's become useless too.

It really is fustrating watching Barber try to do his best Gale Sayers impersonation.

Remember two or three years ago when Tony Dorsett and Emmitt Smith both said Barber can't go for very long running like that ... looking for collisions?
