Who would you take?

If it were my job on the line there is no way id take Winston over Mariota.

Yes, Winston is more ready right now but as good as Winston is I think Mariota has more upside.

Also, I don't know if Winston will ever protect the football as well as he should. The guy was a turnover machine in college.

Mariota needs to sit for a year or 2 but that is who I would go with between these two.

Absolutely cringing.

Neither. Both of these guys are major reaches. Taking either of them first overall is why the bucs are the bucs

Leonard Williams is the number one player in this draft. And it's not even close

Mariota for sure. I think he is the real deal. I don't personally buy into the system talk about him. I hope he doesn't end up anywhere in the BEAST.

Of the two, Mariota. I think Winston will have off the field issues once he reaches the NFL.

The system talk only hurts him in the sense that it didn't make him completely NFL ready.

I think he needs a year to sit and watch and learn how to run an NFL huddle.

As far as reading a defense and making plays I think he has already got that down.

Winston by a mile and a half

That video was cringe worthy?

Looks like a fantastic leader to me

Winston all day. People talk about Winston and his issues, but I think people are overlooking Mariota's issues. When's the last time youve seen a franchise qb that is shy and awkward? He better hopes he lands in a place like Tennessee where the media won't eat him up.

Until I see a spread college qb succeed in the nfl I'm going to be a doubter. Darron Thomas looked pretty great at Oregon too....and now he' s in the AFL. It's more than just a little time he needs to adjust to playing in a real nfl offense.

And what the heck is cringe worthy about that video? I see a leader...a

People talk about the system thing with Mariotta and that is a legit concern. You can look back at the number of QBs that have come out from Oregon and none of them have really done well (if you pull somebody up from 30 or so years ago I am not talking about that far back).

However you don't hear as many people talking about concerns over Winston and the system he plays in. Some say he is more pro ready than Winston because of the system he plays in.

I like Jimbo Fisher...WV native who has had ties with WVU in the past.

However some of the QBs he has coached

Christian Ponder
E.J Manual
Jamarcus Russell (when he was OC at LSU).

All first rounders, all pretty much have been busts...E.J. might turn it around but I doubt it after the Bills GM or Owner said they don't have a franchise QB on their roster.

Just something to consider.

So I am not intrigued as others are.

I think Winston is over rated, is a turn over machine, is too arrogant and just throws balls up he should not throw at times and should have had more INTS than he actually had (in that area he reminds me of Manziel).

I do like Mariotta as I think he is a kid who will be more mature, will do the things behind the scenes more, will not be a celebrity type QB and will not be outworked by other players on the team.

Rodgers played in a spread at Cal.

Talk about off-field issues all you want, but JFF struggled because the game he played at A&M didn't translate to the NFL, at least not as a rookie. I don't see how it's going to work for Mariota either.

Give me Winston all day.

Are you seriously comparing what Jeff Tedford did at Cal to what Oregon does now? You might want to Google Tedford because that was a pretty ridiculous statement

Yep, and you know what.. A lot of NFL teams base their offense out of the gun and spread teams out.

Also, if you look at Oregons offense Mariota makes a lot of reads. Yes he does have a lot of predetermined reads but he did have to scan defenses as well and he did a good job.

Johnny Football had no business playing in year 1. He was always going to look bad.

You can't judge that guy for awhile. His hype is screwing him over because he can't develop like he properly should.

Same could happen to Mariota but Mariota has 10X the physical ability that JFB has.

I would buy low on JFB btw.. If Cleveland would trade him to us and throw him on the bench and tell everyone to forget about him.

For some perspective on the turnovers (using the two seasons that they overlapped as players):

Jameis Winston - 27 games, 28 INTs, 13 fumbles, 4 fumbles lost
Marcus Mariota - 28 games, 8 INTs, 18 fumbles, 6 fumbles lost

Winston is loose with the ball in terms of having a little too much confidence in his arm. Mariota puts the ball on the ground a lot. Not as if Mariota's ball security is great, either.
