If it was any other team with any other owner.....

Haven't all the draft picks been marketed through the media at this point?

How much of it is honest assessment and how much of it is following Jerry's policy of creating excitement through propaganda?

You think Jerry told Zim to say this?

“Number one, he’s brilliant,” defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer told reporters. “He catches on really quick. He wants to be so good and so intense that he’s almost too much at it right now. The other thing is I think he’s a really good pressure player and I think having that with (Micah) Parsons and another pressure player that is a linebacker or he can move somewhere else and Parsons can move somewhere else. I think those pieces add to confusion for the offense, plus he’s a really good rusher. “

I actually believe this draft will be pretty solid. Last year didn't have the same feel. Propaganda is fair though.

We hear this every year. Last year it was Deuce and Eric Scott.

”Cowboys ‘Steal’ Eric Scott Jr.: Could Rookie Push to Start?”

https://www.si.com/nfl/cowboys/news...ter-rumors-starter-diggs-gilmore-camp-preview

I also remember when Nashon Wright was said to be the next Richard Sherman. Happens every year, eventually they may be right about one
And there have been similar stories about Scandrick, Austin, Romo, Biadasz, Schultz, and a whole slew of other prospects out of the top 100 that did not fail after similar hype stories.

I think that Jerry has set some guidelines for coaches talking to the press. However, I think most coaches already realize that this is the time of the year when fans are excited about new players and so they are very cautious about discussing negatives with anyone outside of team management

So I would say it is a combination of policy and routine that coaches generally discuss only positives with the media at this point.

The Cowboys may go a little farther. Jerry has a lot of control when it comes to local media and those specifically covering the Cowboys. He is selling tickets right now and he is one of the best at promoting his team and their players.

Then again, have we ever heard of a coach openly criticizing a rookie before his first training camp?

"Man, I don't know what we were thinking, this guy can't do anything right! We'll probably keep him on the team for a few seasons because it would be embarrassing to just cut him right now."

Too early to say anything about this guy, good or bad. I'm happy to hear what I'm hearing.

lets see how long lived this stays. How long will the honeymoon last with the staff and fans if he can't live up to this hype? Its really a disservice to the kid. Only in Dallas, do we hype up a mid round guy expecting all pro play and call him brilliant before he plays a down. That was zimmers words. My Lord, the kid better be good right out of the chute.
Coaches do their players no favors by lauding them heavily before they ever play a game or even practice in pads. You just add to the pressure on them.

I've called him my new favorite player since the day after everyone began calling him a reach.
Frankly, I'd take 11 Samoans on defense.
The floor is 8-10 year starter. The ceiling is HOF.

Many, myself included, weren't saying he was a reach. We felt that Dallas should've/could've traded down 7 spots with SF and still picked him while adding a 4th rounder.

But, he's here now. Doesn't matter how he got here.
I look for him to make some noise on the field.

It’s really unfair to the other teams how good our scouting department is.

Apparently Jerry hired Warlocks to put a spell on the competition otherwise he would have been drafted in the first round.

Samoa is the birthplace of many a rough defender.

I wish I had a dollar for all the "draft day steals." we've gotten over the last 20 years.
