Was someone at SportsCenter trying to make Mark Brunell look stupid this morning? Was someone at SportsCenter purposely trying to troll Twitter by running a segment where Brunell would rank eight QBs on which one he’d start a team with? The hook is that the segment producer only gave Brunell eight choices and those choices didn’t include Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson.

So Brunell did what he’s there to do and he ranked the quarterbacks.

You can guess what happened next. DEBATE! Here comes Herm Edwards to scream about Aaron Rodgers not being #1 on the list. Brunell agrees. Sage reminds Herm that Rodgers wasn’t one of the eight QBs on the list that Brunell had to choose from. DEBATE!

Of course Twitter went nuts with this because they didn’t hear Sage mention that they were only giving Brunell eight names that didn’t include Rodgers or Wilson. So poor Mark Brunell gets drilled when he didn’t actually do anything wrong.

And here comes the anger:

Mark Brunell just said he’d rather start a team with Tony Romo than Aaron Rodgers. Click, @SportsCenter off. #Packers #NFL

Four of the Top 5 QBs Mark Brunell would want to start a team are 34+. Don’t hire Mark Brunell as your GM. pic.twitter.com/psz2MsKl6z

Add Mark Brunell to the list of talking heads who thinks Aaron Rodgers isn’t that good

Idiotic! Everyone knows that if you need to start a team, Eli should be on that list...at least #3. Hey, he won 2 Superbowls...so I've heard.

All by himself, no less.

That list was a bit silly though if mean starting a team today.
Tony is great, but broke back and 34 is nowhere to begin.
Andrew Luck...yes.

Right...let's just hope that Romo can play this whole season. He already has his team.

Its his year to win that final game of the season with everything on the line. Get the do or die elimination game won!

At his best, Romo is as good as any quarterback in the NFL. He's made more chicken salad out of the leavings of a nauseated fowl than anybody in the league.

To me its Luck and its not even close. Only 24 years old and I consider him head and shoulders above Russell and Kap.

3 things that surprise me about Andrew Luck:
  1. His career completion percentage is 57%
  2. His career QB rating is 81.5
  3. His career career Y/A (Yards Per Attempt) is a 6.8 -- which is VERY low. His Y/A last year was 6.7 -- 27th in the league
First off - I am a big Andrew Luck fan and respect his game a lot. Having said that, two years into his career there are some concerning aspects to his game:
  1. He is below the magical 60% completion rate which is typically considered the minimum bar for good QB play in the modern game
  2. His completion percentage is particularly shocking considering that, on average, he is throwing shorter passes than almost every other QB in the league. Those are typically the "easier" passes that help juice the completion percentage
In summary -- I believe Luck has all the tools to become an elite QB, however, to get there he needs to show tangible improvement in the metrics I mentioned above to get there. He isn't there yet.

If I was starting a team Luck would be #1, followed by Rodgers, Wilson and Brady only because his intangibles are off the chart and he gives your team a solid foundation. I would have Romo around 9 or 10 just behind Ryan given his health issues and age.
