Maroon 5 To Perform SB Halftime Show

I was hoping for Bob Seger. He just announced his farewell tour ...

If the NFL was ever looking for a rock icon who plays by the rules. Seger is as clean cut as they come in concert.

I do not expect the NFL to bring quality half-time entertainment anymore ... I'm sure the person in charge of the halftime show is a millennial.

IMO it's not the worst option they have selected recently.
They are trying to reach the non hardcore fans with these selections.
The NFL knows the hardcore folks will watch the game/tune in.

I'll skip this halftime show. I'm tired of the cautious NFL. Goodell needs to go...
Here, Lukin, you don't want "cautious"?

The best ever Halftime performance (with respect to the wonderful Paul McCartney). And it was ours:

Maroon 5 is in the same vein as Timberlake or Bruno Mars or Katy Perry of recent headliners. Nothing extraordinary. It's the way it is now. We're not gonna see Radiohead on stage. Same with Suga Free (admittedly, that would be amazing LOL), Six Feet Under, Slayer, Megadeth, Dave Matthews Band (hell yes!), Depeche Mode, etc etc.

They need national brand'y, plastic bands/performers. Gets the casuals tuned in. I'll watch with the same attention I give to the omigoshnewcommercials

Would you believe me if I said I would prefer local HS marching bands...which at this point would be more preferable...but I get it, those who pay for tickets deserve decent entertainment. Me at home can switch channels...lol.

Haif-time is a good time to refresh the snacks/order pizza/refresh the drinks/washroom break/smoke break...etc...I wonder what it's like for your team to be in the super bowl. It's been so long I'm starting to forget.

I had to look into the history of the SB halftime shows to see where it "jumped the shark", but after they went away from traditional marching bands, one of the first "modern" bands (if you could call it that) was the friggin New Kids on the Block in 1991. That was before Michael Jackson. Man...my memory was bad as a kid because I remember halftime shows for their commercials and pageantry, but don't ever remember marching bands during the 80's super bowls. After looking at this list:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Super_Bowl_halftime_shows
...I don't remember but a few of the half-time performers over the past several decades. I guess my brain really doesn't focus on it.

If I had to go back in time to watch a halftime show, it would be:
- Superbowl 31 with the Blues Brothers (Aykroyd, Goodman and Jim Belushi), ZZ Top and James Brown.
or
- Superbowl 41 with Prince.
