Here lately i've been thinking about different possibilities for the boys in the first round. I'm having my doubts that there is going to be a defensive player worth taking for us. This has brought me to the possibility of taking a WR in the first round and Marqise Lee seems like a candidate to be there. If we are really going to throw the ball as much as we have in the past then a WR in the first doesn't seem to be outside the realm of possibility. Marqise Lee did have a down year this last year compared to his 2012 campaign. It is easy to see the talent that Lee possesses. He is an explosive athlete that can be dangerous with the ball in his hands. He would give us another tool to stretch the field with his excellent straight line speed. He is also a talented return man which we currently do not have on the roster. The big concerns with Lee are that he lacks the build of a prototypical NFL wide out. He is also not a polished product at this stage in his career. He will need to develop his route running ability and show he can remain disciplined. Now depending on how the draft falls I would not be opposed to drafting this kid.

He is a real talent, I would hope we at least discuss this guy.

Yeah he's a beast. This is one of the better years for WR I can remember.

Watkins
Evans
Lee
Benjamin
Beckham Jr
Robinson
Cooks
Adams
Landry
Matthews

It will be interesting to see who's there in the 2nd and if Jerry is willing to pull the trigger.

I would think if they indeed have thoughts about Patterson last year, then Lee would have a RD1 grade and would be considered as well. Great talent, but I don't think I would pull the trigger with the defense in the shape it is now.

I think if there's no defensive line help there when we pick that we want, you'll see us trade down to acquire more picks.

yeah, despite Lee's talent, they must improve the team and bringing in a guy that would need to outplay your #2 WR to get on the field is scary...if they don't trade down (in the scenario where you say there is no defensive help) then I would hope they pick an OL if no DL or LB is available

Lee has been a little on the fragile side at USC. He has game breaking ability but I would be shocked if he was the pick, and I am sure he'll be there.

I think if there is no DL help they will look at DB and OL in that order. If the value still isn't there then it will all come down to offers. I can absolutely see Jerry and Co. selecting Evans or Lee if the cards are dealt in a particular way.

As an SC fan, Marqise Lee is a flat-out beast. With that being said, I would go nuts and overly displeased if we drafted him in the 1st. If forever reason he fell to the 2nd for whatever reason however, count me in on that train

I'd pass out if we drafted him. The idea of him and Dez for the next several years would be scary good.

Then I'd wake up, look at our defense, and wonder what the heck we were thinking taking a WR in the 1st.

Yes, there is a lot of depth at WR in this draft. Considering the depth at WR in the draft and the fact that it's not the top need, it probably does not make sense to draft a WR in the 1st.

If Watkins, Evans, or Lee is there, you have to consider pulling the trigger if there is a run on DLinemen. There is a big drop off from Lee to Benjamin IMO.

Good point I agree Lee is the end of the tier of beast WR's.
This is just Feb talk, I am ready for a Dlineman with immense talent to be taken in rd 1 but this is kinda fun, like the year McFadden and in Feb he was the number 1 pick.

Maybe Lee will break the nearly 2 decade long run of overrated USC WRs.
I think he has a chance.

I agree. He has to be in play for us if he is on the board still. I really don't see a D-lineman being there for us in the first. It is very early but the depth is no where near as good as last years d-line wise. Now I also believe there will be some LBers in play for us at that spot. Shazier possibly.

I'm guessing, DL, OL or Clinton Dix. There are also some very good LBs available.

If the Cowboys draft a WR in the 1st round the internet will implode.

Personally, I'd rather trade down and accumulate more picks if "our guy" isn't there at 16/17. Maybe trade back to a team like CLE at 26 and pick up another 3rd and 6th/7th.

In most cases I would tend to agree with you. However, I think we really would be trading out of the 1st round grade guys at that point. We got pretty lucky last year with how it all worked out for us, but thats not a guarantee every year. I think I would be in favor of sitting there and taking BPA regardless of position.

Maybe we should just empty the backfield and go 5-wide every play. I love flag football.
