While the workout numbers are certainly an important aspect of the pro day process, sometimes a prospect can really make his mark during position drills. Such was the case for Marshall RB Darius Marshall.

Though Marshall’s times and measurements weren’t spectacular at his school’s pro day, he performed great in position drills.

Do believe that scouts take close notice of those position drills, even if they don’t result in tangible stats. As for the workout numbers, Marshall ran the 40-yard dash in 4.70 and 4.68 seconds, had a 4.34-second short shuttle, a 7.13-second three-cone drill and did 18 bench press repetitions at 225 pounds.

Marshall’s pro day took place outdoors on March 17 in front of 10 team representatives. A total of 16 players worked out (10 from Marshall, six from nearby schools). Here are two other notable players:

DE Albert McClellan (6-1 1/8, 250) stood on all of his NFL Scouting Combine numbers, but did 27 bench press reps.

S Ashton Hall (5-10, 206) ran 4.63 and 4.72 in the 40, had a 39 1/2-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot, 4-inch broad jump, a 4.41 short shuttle, a 7.04 three-cone drill and 15 bench press reps.
