GLENDALE, Ariz. — Well, let your final impression of Marshawn Lynch from this week of Super Bowl XLIX be a favorable one.
Asked if Pete Carroll’s ill-fated decision to go with a passing play on second-and-goal from the 1, 26 seconds left in the game, Pats up 28-24, surprised him, Lynch took the highest of high roads.
“No,” he said, “because football is a team sport.”
And that was all he would have to say about this crushing, devastating defeat that, but for a bounce here or there — or, let’s be perfectly honest, but for the absurd decision to not give Lynch the ball, as many as three times, and try to finish the deal — probably would have delivered Lynch not only a Super Bowl ring but also the game’s Most Valuable Player award.
