Rumors about me being traded. Always possible I dunno. But I do know I'm ready to be the guy.

1. Havent really heard any new rumors

2. Marty's value should be solid, although not what it once was(1st). He can start for several teams.

3. Would make some sense if your plan is to get Patrick Peterson.

4. Do you want to get a look at John Phillips in pads again before you do this?(Thus making it a post-draft trade)

I seriously doubt teams are talking trades while the playoffs are still going, and this team isn't talking trade while the Coaching staff is being built.

Considering we have John Phillips, Bennett is perfect trade bate.

What could have been.

Those fools in Cincy were willing.

Should have jumped.

Martellus is a phenomenal blocker, one of the best in the entire NFL. Considering how much more balanced Garrett was in his play calling towards rushing when he took over probably increased the value of Martellus to the team.

It would have to be a pretty dang good pick to give him up. I consider him to be the most underrated player on the roster to be perfectly candid.

Whos more clueless? The Skins for offering 2 1sts for Chad Johnson a few years ago or the Bengals for turning it down?

If in some manner you can use him to get Peterson and keep your 2 and 3 I would be all over it. The 2nd round is a great spot for the C/G we need and thusly be tough to lose in a trade up.

I'm, still on the fence with Marty B. He may have good blocking skills, but to me when he is in a TE or a WR play he seems unsteady or unsure alot of the time. I know he has made a few good catches, but he still seems awkward at it.
I also noticed that after one play he seems totally exausted , has anyone else noticed that?

He looked like he put on a good 15 lbs. They probably wanted him to put on weight to block more. W/ his ego I doubt he would get tubbs if he didnt have to

I think thats just his demeanor. He often times looks tired or just not into the game but once the ball is snapped he gives it his all. He is also very tough to bring down once he has the ball in his hands. I know a lot of people are down on him but I think he is an asset to this team. However, if this move gives us ammo to grab Peterson then I wouldn't be against it.

KEEP HIM!!!! John Phillips has proven nothing in real games, and depth is something this team lacks at nearly every position. Like it or not, Marty is a good TE and accepts his role without complaining.

The guy is really an athletic player. You should see him on the basketball court. He can put up the show of a Michael Jordan against lower leveled players. But his athleticism and coordination are abundantly apparent there.

He has taken the physical and mental development over the past two seasons. He has been broadened by the intensity that he has witnessed and participated in over the past two seasons as well.

He is a strong receiving presence now. But his high level that he has taken his blocking to, elevates his value as a tight end greatly. He now legitimately demands consideration in almost any team's scheme. He can both catch the ball and block very effectively. That is in very short supply and high in demand in the NFL. If not for the league's top TE in Jason Witten, he already would have been a legitimate star and with Dallas.

As to his current biling and slotting, he is worth every cent to have him around as an insurance policy for the top end production and useage in double tight end sets. With Phillips returning, I think that only expands the effectiveness, not only with two tight end sets, but with Phillips as a H-back, and expanded running ability as well.

I don't want to see him go. Young, huge, can block well, catch and run and is hard to bring down.

Was he the one who was a Basketball player? If so that might explain why he seems awkward to me.

Hmmm...It sounds as if he wouldn't mind leaving. Usually players say things like "I'm just happy to contribute in any way the team needs me", but Martellus said, "I'm ready to be the guy"...which he knows wont happen here until Witten retires.

Bennett doesn't strike me as the type of player Garrett would want either. Witten and Phillips certainly do, and with that much talent already at our TE position I would think the possibility of trading him for a pick, or maybe even a starting caliber o-lineman would be pretty high.

I just had to say your avatar is awesome.

Oh, and I'd rather keep Bennett on the team...my 2 cents on this subject.

Billie Joe Dupree was a basketball player before becoming a mold for future Dallas tight ends...

I'm not trying to say Basketball players can't be football players..and maybe awkward is to strong of a word to describe him. All I was trying to say is he don't look natural at playing Football yet (to me). I'm sure on a BB court he looks awesome and natural.
I'm just on the fence..i'm not saying he is Wonderful or terrible or should be traded.

I agree with your look...as he does seem to be missing just a little sense of fitting into the large picture of a team's play. He has covered a large area in the arena of personality, and myself, I think that paints the picture of an incomplete professional. Until his strength is measured against the league...

Jerry promised "significant roster turnover" and Garrett's implementing the "Cowboy Way".

If Garrett's comfortable with John Phillips, I'd be surprised if Martellus is a Cowboy in 2011.
