Thank you for putting the link at the top so I could stop reading before I got very far. I know Jonathon is a member here, but I can't take anything on that site seriously. I'd rather save my time.

your welcome;:eek:: :)

This is getting blown way out of freaking proportion.

No it's not time for them to move on. And MartyB was right. He needs to be more involved by the coaching staff. He also needs to step up his game, and he will get those opportunities.

But the staff needs to get him more involved, he has the athletic ability to be a weapon in our offense.

All those Garrett haters, this is an opportunity to come out and sing, and actually be right for one lol :p:

Didn't Antonio Bryant do amazing after he was given a chance to shine in a system that was oriented towards him? Just saying, maybe you should actual listen to the words Bennett said... Our culture does a pretty poor job of listening.

Bryant did so amazing that he's on his fourth or fifth team right now.

our culture also has an entitled approach to life as well....why should he work hard to become a useful part of the team when they can just change the whole system to suit him?........

Bennett is a great prospect still so no you do not give up on him.

He is actually a better blocker than Witten right now. Let that sink in for a bit and marinate. The guy is a top notch athlete and it's not like his effort is awful. He is just a big kid who plays too much.

Our best offensive players are Witten, Romo and Austin. None of the three was stellar day 1. They all developed into what they are. You give Bennett that same chance.

Bennett needs to learn the nuances of running routes and controlling his body throughout routes but he is hardly a dog when in the game and hardly at risk of being cut.

apparently our culture is big into making assumptions too....

no one said marty b didnt work hard or that he wasn't a useful part of the team.

his blocking metrics are outstanding and that is the role of a 2nd tight end. his 15 passes are paltry but exactly how many 2nd tight ends had more than 20???? If you exclude guys who started 5 or more games ....

Blocking metrics? What the hell is that?

Football Outsiders creates stats of success running behind certain players and STATS records sacks given up.

I imagine that is what he is talking about.

Some people that don't bother to take the time to review the statistics like to quote profootballfocus who also has a stat for blocking. pff is a bunch of amateurs watching network broadcasts and with no real background in scouting or coaching. Their metrics deviate significantly from FO and STATS.

Metrics are essentially a measurement or stat.

When you have Jason Witten, Miles Austin, a trio of great running backs, Patrick Crayton, etc. you don't redesign your offense around a backup tight end.

You are smarter than that.

trade him. I'll take a third for him. if he's not already a locker room evil, he appears to be on his way. and judging by his twitter, he's not the most dedicated athlete ever, either. Phillips has the goods.

The shame of it is that Bennett is a better athlete and has a higher ceiling. As for being a lockr room evil, I don't recall hearing or reading anything of the sort.
