After seeing him up close this evening, I'm convinced that HBO has painted him in a bad light. Sure, we've seem some things from the kid that are cause to be concerned. I watched him a lot at the open practice and he just went about his business. He had John Garrett in his ear a lil bit. The drills I saw him in, I tell ya, if he gets his head on straight, this kid could be a beast. I guess that's no different than what we've already heard about him.

I'm watching it rite now but some of his antics can't make him bad if he do it himself. No matter how much editing is done.

He sounded like a little kid when he said he couldn't play with his shirt tucked in.

yeah, the shirt thing bugged me, but he's just a little immature. Not a bad kid necessarily IMO: but a kid nontheless. 50/50 shot he makes it. He;s got the ability, if the workethic and attitude follow and we'll really have something.

Brian Broadus said today after watching the Denver game film Bennett looked much improved from the 1st game and had some real nice blocks.

Yea he looked a lot better and seemed as if he tried that game unlike the first.

He has to grow up though. This kind of attitude can lead itself to very stupid penalties at the worst possible time.

I forgot who said it in another thread but some kids mature slower. Our very own Antonio Bryant matured very slow despite his talent level. I just hope that Martellus is less like Antonio in regards to maturing.

I agree with the assessment that he is showing flashes of his talent. He happens to be one that sometimes needs a kick in the butt and then other times a pat on the back. He is a big kid. But as long as he sees he won't get away with half effort and coasting, he can be very good.

John Garrett's job? Keep the pilot light on inside Martellus. And Martellus will eventually love him for that.

Bennett is a little boy in a man's body. It's hard to believe that a guy his age acts like that. Why the heck the Cowboys let Fasano go over this guy makes me shack my head.

Yes, Bennett is athlethically gifted but at this level you need more than athlethism to be a great football player.

Sounds like some advice my dad could've given me as a kid. By the way, you up for mentoring a 40-ish year old Dallas Cowboy fan?

:laugh2:

How do you "shack" a head? Is it fun?

The kid is oozing with raw athletic ability and potential..... glad to see that he is catching on.

On a side not, the TE coach really creeps me out.:

It's hard to explain, it's a new hip-hop thing. LOL! My bad.

All that I can say is Bennett reminds me of a former Cowboy that acted just like him and was out of football because of his immature ways... AB.. Antonio Bryant! That is not somebody you want to act like if you want to make it in the NFL.

Oozing with immaturity..ie...Antonio Bryant. Athlethism doesn't trump maturity.
