Merantau was a good story, not just an action flick. "War of the Arrows" was ridiculous, but I have a feeling that it was a "re-make" of Apocalytpo, which was a classic.

Iron Monkey also is pretty much a classic and the Ong Bak series changed the genre to allow for movies like Merantau and and Raid: Redemption.

Five Deadly Venoms is one of the all-tine greats. Old School....
Have you seen the original "Master of the Flying Guillotine"? That's my favorite-old school joint. I collect kung-** movies, and have approximately 80 in my possesion. The old Shaw-brothers movies are classic, but the 90's are my favorite era. Jet Li and Donnie Yen movies from that time period were so good. Michelle Yeoh also.

Have you seen Shaolin (2011) yet? Great, great movie.

Yep, I saw it I believe last year. I wasn't too much of a fan of Shaolin, though it was pretty decent. I watched it during my anything current Donnie Yen phase, so my standards are usually set against them nowadays.

I take it you also must have been a fan of Satruday Afternoon Kung-** :). They need to revive it. I've never seen "Master of Flying Guillotine" surprisingly. My favorite old school, next to Five Deadly Venoms (supposedly they were planning on a re-make but it fell through), is Chinese Super Ninjas or Super Ninja. It also goes by, I believer, Five Element Ninja.

The 90s for me was an era of Jackie Chan and Jet Li. I still love their stuff and think Fearless is one of the great Martial Arts films, storywise as well. Brilliant...

Speaking of which, did you get a chance to see:

"The Man with the Iron Fists?"
Yes sir! Hip-hop and Kung ** are TWO of my favorite things in life! lol. I liked it. You can tell the Tarantino influence, but the RZA did an OK job on his first movie. I'll def. be adding that to my collection.

I also went and saw "Tai Chi Zero", which is a steam-punk type of martial arts flick. Think Kung-** hustle. Not bad.

Jet-Li has a new flick coming out named "The White Snake and the Sorcerer". It looks pretty good. But he is starting to look old!!

If anybody liked the Professional, I'd recommend "The Man from Nowhere". It's on net-flicks right now.

Man from Nowhere is great. Sorry I left it off my list.

Shaolin 2011 and Little Big Soldier are both great. Jackie Chan gets better and better.
